Red Hat Enterprise Linux, the leading commercial Linux distribution, and the leading contributor to the Linux kernel, works very closely with Intel to enable and tune each Xeon platform before public launch. Systems are enabled for bare metal, virtualization and Cloud deployments. Support for Mission Critical applications hosted on RHEL demands advanced error reporting such as PCIe-AER, new I/O technologies such as PCIe 3.0 and USB 3.0, advanced management capabilities such as ACPI 5.0 and advanced monitoring capabilities such as Performance Monitoring Unit (PMU). Red Hat and Intel engineers work very closely to enable and support these features as quickly as possible. All of these features are complemented by the NUMA and RAS features in RHEL & in KVM. Customers demand CPU hotplugging for bare metal and virtualization—Check! Live snapshotting, live migration—Check!
Security is paramount in the enterprise and the explosive growth of virtualization and Cloud brings this to a whole new level.
