The Religion of the Aztecs The Aztecs were polytheistic (worshiped many gods and goddesses) Their main god was Huitzilopotchli because he told them to settle where an eagle was on a cactus with a snake in its mouth They sacrificed people from defeated armies by taking out their heart and putting it in a jar, when it dried out they believed the gods ate it

  • 4. The Aztec monetary unit The Aztecs had 2 kinds of money quachtli and cocoa beans Quachtli is a type of cloth and has a lot more value than cocoa beans The Aztecs sold stuff from people to animals to corn or tomatoes

  • 6. The government of the Aztecs The capital of the Aztec empire was Tenochtitlan Their most powerful leader was Huey Hatloni They also had nobles that were consulted prior to making some decisions They also collected a lot of respect (a.k.a. Money) from their defeated cities
