3. GALLIPOLI CAMPAIGN
 Initially wanted to attack Northern Germany from the Baltic Sea
• Relieve Russia from the war, threaten German
 Eventually embraced it
 It was thought that it was the perfect attack for Great
Britain, and Churchill became the champion
• Superior naval power, but failed due to lack of coordination
between navy and army
 Churchill took the blame, removed from his positions

4. AFTER HIS FALL
 Was crushed by the removal, took a different post
• Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, was too out of touch for his
liking
 "I was out of harmony with the views which were prevailing... I knew
too much and felt too keenly to be able to accept Cabinet responsibility for
what I believed to be a wholly erroneous conception of the war. I therefore
in the middle of November [1915] sought permission to retire from the
Government."

5. A NEW BEGINNING
