Designers and usability practitioners take various approaches to understanding the user experience, including following established heuristics (Jakob Nielsen), looking at UX as being made up of various elements of equal importance (Peter Morville’s “User Experience Honeycomb”), or via a hierarchical or pyramid approach in which more subjective, “higher level” goals of the user take precedence over simple objective measures of “usability” or basic functional aspects. We argue for the latter approach which recognizes that significant changes in online technology require the need to recognize a more complex understanding of how to effectively deliver on the user experience. The goal of this presentation is to provide practitioners with a framework for understanding the elements for creating meaningful experiences and provide specific examples for creating meaning in everyday interfaces.

今年 HPX 讀書會成立了 HPX-GOV 小組,研究「英國政府數位服務 Government Digital Service(GDS)」的數位服務設計,自年初至今已經進行 15 次研讀討論聚會。 英國政府 GDS 所規劃出來的內容非常豐富扎實,研讀過程樂趣無窮,基於獨樂樂不如眾樂樂,加上團結就是力量的前提,我們將舉辦英翻中的實體翻譯松活動。 我們將從網路資訊的閱讀開始,結合實體活動,透過小組分工,把《英國政府數位服務設計手冊》的內容,包括政策團隊組織建立、主要計畫、子計畫範圍、設計流程方法……等資訊,進行中文化的翻譯彙整。 所以~~我們需要對政府數位化服務有熱情的您,一起加入我們的活動,貢獻心力,一起來了解英國政府數位服務的組織分工及實務作法。 最終,我們希望這次翻譯松的內容日後可以公開發表,提供給有興趣了解英國政府數位服務設計的朋友,能更快速了解全貌。 翻譯網站來源:www.gov.uk/service-manual

在 10/26 於中研院舉辦的 2013 互動設計研討會,這次邀請到悠識數位的首席資訊架構師 蔡明哲 (Richard) 先生,帶領下午其中一組平行工作坊。Richard 在台灣的產業界推動使用者經驗相關知識不遺餘力,經常舉辦相關交流會及研討會。 悠識所經營的網站企劃 facebook 粉絲頁,人數超過 25,000 人,是國內最大的網站企劃以及網站設計社群。 而其創辦的 HPX 社群,已舉辦超過 70 場以上活動,每場人數 40~200 人不等。HPX 網站企劃讀書更是從台北辦到高雄,超過 70 組,並持續推廣網站企劃/資訊架構/使用者經驗設計等觀念及專業知識。 呼應這次研討會主題「社會創新 Social Innovation」,Richard將分享經營 HPX 社群的經驗,進而在工作坊探討社群設計如何能夠幫助年輕人找到更好的發展。 workshop 主題是:「Design an Extendable Community – 如何幫助台灣青年突破發展困境 」。

Although User Experience (UX) is typically associated with websites, apps, and other digital technologies, its user-centered philosophy is applicable to every library service and touchpoint, including reference and information services. In this talk, attendees will be introduced to key UX concepts and methods and get an overview of recent research into UX Librarianship and the extent to which these roles can help - or hinder - libraries' efforts to deliver compelling and engaging experiences through every channel, not just those offered through a screen. By the end of the talk, attendees will have a deeper understanding of the strategies and the mindset required to create an experience-centered library whose digital and physical services work together to create and sustain meaningful relationships with its users. Presented at the 2016 Western New York Library Resources Council (WNYLRC) Annual Conference.

Although User Experience (UX) is typically associated with websites, apps, and other digital technologies, its user-centered philosophy is applicable to every library service and touchpoint, including reference and information services. In this talk, attendees will be introduced to key UX concepts and methods and get an overview of recent research into UX Librarianship and the extent to which these roles can help - or hinder - libraries' efforts to deliver compelling and engaging experiences through every channel, not just those offered through a screen. By the end of the talk, attendees will have a deeper understanding of the strategies and the mindset required to create an experience-centered library whose digital and physical services work together to create and sustain meaningful relationships with its users. User experience design (UX, UXD, UED or XD) is the process of enhancing user satisfaction with a product by improving the usability, accessibility, and pleasure provided in the interaction with the product. User experience design encompasses traditional human-computer interaction (HCI) design, and extends it by addressing all aspects of a product or service as perceived by users. User experience design includes elements of interaction design, visual design, information architecture, user research, and other disciplines, and is concerned with all facts of the overall experience delivered to users. Following is a short analysis of its constituent parts. User experience design incorporates most or all of the above disciplines to positively impact the overall experience a person has with a particular interactive system and its provider. User experience design most frequently defines a sequence of interactions between a user (individual person) and a system, virtual or physical, designed to meet or support user needs and goals, primarily, while also satisfying systems requirements and organizational objectives. Typical outputs include: - Persona (an archetypal user for whom the product or service is being designed) - Wireframes (screen blueprints or storyboards) - Prototypes (for interactive or in-the-mind simulation) - Written specifications (describing the behavior or design), e.g. use cases - Site audit (usability study of existing assets) - User-Flow diagrams and navigation maps - User stories or scenarios - Sitemaps and content inventory - High-fidelity visual mockups (precise visual layout and design of the expected product or interface) The following details the responsibilities a user experience designer may have at each phase of a project: At the beginning, when the project is more conceptual: - Ethnographic research - Surveying - Customer feedback and testing - Focus group administration - Non-directed interview - Contextual Interview - Mental modeling - Flow charts - Mood boards - Card sorting - Competitive analysis - Contextual Inquiry While the project is underway: - Wireframing - Heuristic analysis - Expert evaluation - Pluralistic walkthrough - Personas - Scenario - Prototypes - System mapping - Experience mapping - User testing/usability testing - After the project has launched: User testing/usability testing - A/B testing - Additional wireframing as a result of test results and fine-tuning Source: Wikipedia

兩件不可思議的事。第一件是,我們身處在全世界高山最密集的島嶼中,我卻得到四十多年後,才進行人生中的第一場山岳活動。而在我成長的過程中,不管是家庭、學校、社會,「登山」這件事彷彿不曾存在過,不曾試圖進入我的人生,這也讓我意識到,我們的教育、體制與我們的日常生活是多麼地遠離我們所處的土地。另一個不可思議的事是,我至今仍未能學會游泳,在這個擁有 1139 公里海岸線的島嶼。 而這就是我們成長的環境。我們看不見體制,體制卻如影隨形。自然環繞著我們,我們卻視若無睹。長大後,X 世代的我們,有些幸運的,在體制的制約下覺知過來,於是開始一邊抗拒(瓦解)著上個世代的價值體系,一邊尋找著未來的可能,努力從一個被舊有體制馴化的人,學習變成一個真正自由的人。而或許,這就是我想要透過媒體傳達的事吧。 許多人在探究著新媒體,但我一直覺得媒介只是個手段,一種內容傳遞的形式。數位媒介的使用,是經營媒體者必須學習的新技術,但或許不應拿來做為一個媒體新、舊的區隔。更何況隨著時代的推移,世代的演變,媒體甚至必須重新學習舊的媒介技術。每一個新媒介的產生,都會在人類社會造成影響,並重新定義舊的媒介,從岩刻、甲骨、造紙術、古騰堡、蒸汽機、電磁、廣播、電視、網路,「媒介即是訊息」麥克魯漢如是說。

陳啟亮,現為台灣使用者經驗設計協會理事長,實踐大學工設系講師。 目前任職於大予創意設計,擔任策略總監,曾任電通安吉斯集團(台灣)策略資源部協理。 專長在於資訊環境中的用戶研究、傳播策略與資訊介面設計。 有廿年經驗的產業旅行者:服務過網路資訊、社群媒體、數位行銷、廣告媒體、體驗設計等不同產業,大部分都是擔任著研究與策略工作。因此,時常交錯著用「使用者」「消費者」「閱聽人」「公民」「顧客」的不同觀點與方法來探究同一件事情,得到一些有趣的觀點。 例如,雖然目前「使用者體驗」備受重視,但「體驗」二字本身無足輕重,而是「好的體驗」才是想要達成的目標。「體驗」也不是能由單方面所設計或管理的,而是一個最終的結果,當中包含使用的人、提供的人、協助的人與彼此競爭的人,共同的涉入其中。因此,設計,並不只是被動的去發現與解決問題,也是主動創造出價值的過程。
