Bold Alligator Heritage Moment C2F AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY CTF 20 CMC Update UNCLAS70th anniversary of Amphibious Landings in Pacific & Africa • OPERATION WATCHTOWER (7 Aug 1942) - first major offensive by Allied forces in Pacific • OPERATION TORCH (8 Nov 1942) – first major World War II Allied offensive campaign in North Africa Operation Torch - 3 Task Forces involving convoy of over 100 ships and 60,000+ troops from US & UK landed in Morocco, Algeria, Casablanca. Operation Watchtower "Need to have senior leaders comfortable talking about - Battle of Guadalcanal expeditionary warfare. Need to look at tailored approaches involved carrier strike force, beyond ARG/MEU (eg USMC Cobra on a LCS)“ - CNO 75 warships & transports from US & Australia, & 16,000 BOLD ALLIGATOR 2012 : "demonstrating our uniquely Naval, rpt Naval, ability to establish a sea base and conduct and sustain a troops. wide range of expeditionary operations from the sea“– ADM Harvey “Marines and Sailors who participate in this exercise will be taking their cues from their leaders.
