with advice from Eventbrite and two local event experts:

Australia’s growing appetite to shun
material goods in favour of live

wellbeing activities will
continue to be a rising trend
this year and beyond.
Australians are planning to
attend more events in the
next 12 months than ever
before, with 37% wanting
to get more involved in
health and wellbeing
activities, such as
meditation, yoga, and
health expos.

Tip 1: Find the right fit for your audience and event
Look at wellness trends that influence your demographic,and consider how
these could be incorporated into your event.
Digital platforms like Instagram and Pinterest can provide great insight into
where your audience seeks inspiration from.
Look for popular trends,hashtags and personalities to see what kind of
speakers,activities,or food you could incorporate into your event.

Tip 2: Collaborate with the right partners and participants
If you want to improve the health and wellbeing of your attendees,finding
partners,speakers,and vendors that support your vision is crucial.
Event partners and participants that attract the audience you want to
promote to will improve your marketing strategy,particularly when it
comes to social media.
By securing high calibre speakers that support strong health and wellbeing
messages,TheWellness Festival was able to use Instagram to cross
promote their event to an audience of over 1,000,000 followers with an
interest in their event program.

Tip 3: Choose your venue carefully
Many venues are contracted to in-house catering,which could foil your
attempts at creating healthy food options for attendees at your event.
Check carefully what agreements are in place, ask about catering options,
and if you can’t find what you’re looking for consider hiring a ‘blank canvas’
venue.
Lauren Pell explains “ForThe Wellness Festival,we decided to book a
warehouse and build from the ground up so we could have total control
over the food options. It’s definitely a more costly option, but worth it to
build a truly bespoke event.”

Tip 4: Be authentic
Mindfulness is all about careful
consideration,and it can’t be
faked.
Jacque Halstead advises “anyone
looking to partner with an event
should use it as an opportunity to
tell a real story and form a
relationship with your consumers.
Let them know what contribution
you’re making.Your investment
and effort will be void if this is
done in a fake or ‘plastic’ way,
people will see right through it.”

Tip 5: Create lasting
memories and connections
48% of	millennials believe	that	
some	of	their	best	memories	
come	from	an	event	or	live	
experience	and	agree	that	
attending	events	with	family	and	
friends	deepens	their	personal	
relationships.	
Wanderlust	have	boosted	their	
ticket	sales	by	including	team	
registration	for	their	2016	
Wanderlust	108	Mindful	Triathlon	
events.	By	allowing	team	
registrations,	attendees	are	
encouraged	to	rally	friends	and	
family	to	experience	the	event	
together.

Tip 6: Look at activities that can work in breaks
Most events hold networking drinks and breaks,which can be a perfect
time to shake things up with some healthy alternatives.
Ideas & Inspiration
• Healthy breakfast and lunch options
• Lunch time or post-event work out classes
• Yoga or meditation break outs
• Neck massages and chill out zones
• Smoothie bar
• Tea infused cocktails and mocktails for non-drinkers
• Encourage vendors to offer healthy choices or activities

Tip 7: Being mindful doesn’t
always have to be virtuous
Having options for non-drinkers
can help make your event feel
more inclusive, but it doesn’t
mean you need to ditch the
booze altogether.Providing more
options gives attendees the
control to choose what suits
their lifestyle.
Being mindful also doesn’t have to
mean being virtuous all the time.
Wanderlust incorporates alcohol
and different food options into
their events,but partner with
local vendors that use sustainable
practices and organic produce.

Australians are planning to attend more events in the next 12 months than ever before, with 37% wanting to get more involved in health and wellbeing activities, such as meditation, yoga, and health expos.

Digital platforms like Instagram and Pinterest can provide great insight into where your audience seeks inspiration from. Look for popular trends,hashtags and personalities to see what kind of speakers,activities,or food you could incorporate into your event. 5

Event partners and participants that attract the audience you want to promote to will improve your marketing strategy,particularly when it comes to social media. By securing high calibre speakers that support strong health and wellbeing messages,TheWellness Festival was able to use Instagram to cross promote their event to an audience of over 1,000,000 followers with an interest in their event program. 6

Check carefully what agreements are in place, ask about catering options, and if you can’t find what you’re looking for consider hiring a ‘blank canvas’ venue. Lauren Pell explains “ForThe Wellness Festival,we decided to book a warehouse and build from the ground up so we could have total control over the food options. It’s definitely a more costly option, but worth it to build a truly bespoke event.” 7

Jacque Halstead advises “anyone looking to partner with an event should use it as an opportunity to tell a real story and form a relationship with your consumers. Wanderlust have boosted their ticket sales by including team registration for their 2016 Wanderlust 108 Mindful Triathlon events. Being mindful also doesn’t have to mean being virtuous all the time.
