2. 1.What you need!
The things you need are:
1. Clean glass jar
2. A piece of thread (I used cotton)
3. Teaspoon
4. Washing soda*
5. Paperclip & Pencil
6. Bowl

3. What to do
1. First I put the spoon in the jar while my dad put the jar in the bowl and filled it
almost to the brim with hot water. Then I added a few drops of blue food
colouring to the water.
2. I added 2 spoonfuls of washing soda (Being very careful so I didn’t burn
myself, of course) and stirred them to make it dissolve and added several
more spoonfuls and stirred again. Then I added a few drops of blue food
colouring to the water to make the crystals coloured.
3. First I took the spoon out and tied the cotton to the paper clip and twisted it
around the pencil. Then I rested it on the brim of the jar and dropped the
paper clip in. After I poured hot water into the bowl around the jar. And now I
wait...

5. Where to look...
I got this idea of the science experiment was: The UsBorne Big Book Of
Experiments. It took me a about 10 - 20 minutes to do this experiment. My helped
me with this experiment and he also supervised me while I was spooning in the
washing soda so I didn’t burn myself with it.

6. Tips
Make sure you have adult supervision while working on it. Be very VERY careful
while spooning in the washing soda because it could burn you if you’re not careful.
Putting a spoon in the jar while you are pouring the boiling water into the jar will
prevent it from cracking and spilling. You will only need one or two drops of food
colouring. Make sure you have the jar in the bowl at all times.
