1. How Did You Attract or
Address Your Audience?
QUESTION 5
2. Attraction
Films are often made to look interesting or attractive, even when the
quality is below par. This is done in a number of ways, although
predominantly through the following;
o Posters
o Television Advertisements
o Teaser Trailers
o The cast and crew themselves
o Interviews with cast and crew
o Word of Mouth (including forum sites)
3. The Movie Poster
o In order to create a buzz for our film, we created movie posters which
we handed to people.
o Here we have one example of an idea for the poster, using shots from
the film and of the location.
4.
5. The Cast and Crew
o We had a cast of teenage and young adult actors to appeal to our age
range, as well as the crew being of the same age, so we could better
know what our audience would want.
o Our actors all had some degree of experience of training, which added
to the professionalism.
o We also had a mixed gender group, so we could fully accommodate
what our research stated our audience would want.
6. Web-2
o We used our Facebook and Twitter pages to advertise our product,
tweeting updates from a specially made account and posting other
information up.
o This meant we could keep our audience informed as to what was
happening, but we also kept them from knowing too much.
o A viral buzz was created from people ‘commenting on or ‘liking’ any
Facebook updates, or ‘retweeting’ any tweets.
7. Word of Mouth
o We told a lot of people about our project, without giving away any
spoilers.
o We developed a sort of buzz, as we discussed it through various social
networking sites, using web-2 technology.
8. Addressing our Audience – An Overview
o One major tool we used to our advantage was the fact we are of the
same age as our targeted age range.
o We used techniques we knew we liked such as the camera angles,
especially in the fight scene.
o We used the internet for a lot of advertising, and word of mouth to
family and friends to publicise our project.
