killed in our opening sequence. She was
dressed like a older teenager and had
blonde hair (which was a wig). We
presented her like this because in traditional
horror/crime films, young blondes are the
most targeted as they’re most vulnerable in
most traditional original horror films. We
also used a woman as the victim because
they’re are seen as physically weak
compared to men which also shows their
vulnerability.
3. As you can see, the
characters face is clear
and his hair is neat. We
did this to make the
character look tidy, fresh
and ready for work.
Another character that was introduced in
our opening sequence was the detective
who is holding the phone. As you can see by
the clothing, he’s wearing a suit. My group
and I did this because we wanted the
detectives in the sequence to look
professional like real detectives.
4. My group decided to make the victim younger than most of the girls. We thought that it
would not be appropriate for a adult woman to wake up on a bench unaware of what is
happening because it is more likely for a late teenage girl to go partying and clubbing
instead of an adult who has other things to do such as looking after their children and
being at home doing work. Not only did we make the character of the victim young
because she would be the “partying” type, we did this because we thought a younger
victim would show what some of the social groups of youth are like in Britain and to make
the character look more weak and helpless unable to do anything when she is jumped by
the killer who is masked.
5. As for the detective, we chose Alex because he is a tall character and an ideal person to
play as the detective character. Because Alex is a tall character, we chose him because it
can show the power that he has as the role of the detective which could relate to the
power of the Law as he is an detective in the opening sequence. As you can see by Alex’s
facial expression, he is serious which could suggest the age of him. If we were to put a
younger character, perhaps his/her facial expression would have been different and
perhaps more childish, so we wanted to keep the realism with the serious act.
