Re: Proposal for kuler.adobe.com White paper
Thank you for your time to read my proposal. I am requesting permission to spend
approximately 10 hours researching and writing a white paper on kuler.adobe.com for students.
There is a problem that deals with students going into the field of Digital Media Design
Technology at Texas State Technical College. These students have trouble with choosing the right
color schemes and making choices on colors for different designs.
I. What Color Do You Choose?
Digital Media Design Technology students seem to have a problem when dealing with
color schemes. Its hard to find a group of colors which are very compatible to one
another, and it would make a good design. Students stress over this too much. This is
important to DMDT students because their entire field deals with colors and designs.
I am going to research and find a solution to this problem. In a study that I have already
conducted, 4 out of 5 students state, It's difficult to figure out which group of colors can
be compatible together to have a great and successful design. This analysis shows me
how hard this field is and that there are solutions to these students problems.
II. Colors Found
I have a solution to this problem. It is called kuler.adobe.com. Imagine a student who
has been assigned to do a project but got stuck when they could not find a nice
compatible group of colors. I have personally been in that position, and I know from
personal experience how stressful it can be. I have a solution that can help students in
this type of bind.
This tool can help students create and share color themes with one another. When a
students decides that they have one color already picked out, they can simply go onto
kuler and they can find compatible colors and fine tune them to fit the color scheme
they would want. Students can save the colors they have chosen by simply signing up for
kuler. The best part about it is that it's free. What more can a student ask for when
looking for color themes that would perfectly match whatever design they were going
for. There are a variety of different options that a student can use on kuler.
2. - A student can explore different color themes already uploaded onto kuler by different
people who already have accounts.
- A student can create a color theme just by using one single color and using the color
wheel that is located on the website.
- A student can, when they sign up, be able to share and get feedback on their color
creations from other users of kuler.
- A student can also create a color theme from a picture they like. They can use a color
extraction tool which is located on the website to generate a color theme of their very
own.
I believe I am the perfect person to research and present this white paper to the students.
I am a DMDT student and I have had a lot of personal experiences creating designs and
using this tool in my day to day life. I want to teach other DMDT students the things
that I know, so they can grow and learn.
III. Project Plan
I would like to start by getting a group of students specifically from the Digital Media
Design Technology program together and asking them questions specifically regarding
the problem in which I know my tool can resolve. From there I would gather up my
information and present it in a powerpoint I could have ready within a week from the
end of the research to share with the same group of students explaining how my tool
can greatly help them. After I present the powerpoint information, I will write a white
paper for the students, helping them get through the tool for their color scheme designs.
The white paper will explain the tool to these students and guide them through it. I will
turn in the draft to you so you will be able to look it over and approve of the final draft
of the white paper.
I believe this plan will enable me to effectively research kuler.adobe.com and prepare a white
paper for Digital Media Design students. If you approve and would like me to move forward with
this project, please return a signed copy of this proposal by June 22. Please contact me if you have
any questions or concerns about the white paper or my tool. Thank you again for taking time out
of your busy schedule to read my proposal.
