conducted at all India level for getting admissions into the prestigious IIMs.
India produces around 50 lakh graduates a year. After graduation, some opt for post
graduations, some opt for direct jobs in corporations. But there is a large section of people who
aspire to become government employees.
The government sector today is one of the most attractive destination for the young graduates
because of the job security it presents and renewed pay scales. As one can imagine, the

of vacancies available.
Civil Services examination and Staff Selection Commission (SSC) are two very popular choices
for graduates and even post graduates who want to work in various posts in
ministries/departments of government of India.

Reading newspapers daily and studying general knowledge books go a long way in getting
prepared. Although general knowledge forms a crucial part in both the exams but they mostly
differ in other sections.
Cracking the preliminary exam of SSC is quite different from cracking the CSAT/ Civil Service
prelims. ssc competition books are generally sufficient for the SSC aspirants. In case of IAS
aspirants, a minimum f preparation of one year is must if he/she wants to crack it within one
year.
The chances of getting through would always increase for students who are well prepared but
luck also plays some part in the competitive exams as the syllabus is often unstructured and
much more wider.
