2. The wind instruments belonging to the brass family are usually made of brass. Brass players produce sound by blowing into the mouth piece of the instrument. Some brass family members that play in the orchestra are the trumpet,the horn,the trombone, and the tuba. Brass instruments are loud and their tone carries a long way. Brass instruments are really just long metal tubes that flare at the far end.

4. The tuba is the largest and lowest pitched brass instrument. Sound is produced by vibrating or "buzzing" the lips into a large cupped mouthpiece. It is one of the most recent additions to the modern symphony orchestra, first appearing in the mid-19th century, when it largely replaced the ophicleide. Tuba is Latin for trumpet or horn. The horn referred to would most likely resemble what is known as a Baroque trumpet. Prussian Patent No. 19 was granted to Wilhelm Friedrich Wieprecht and Carl Moritz on September 12, 1835 for a "bass tuba" in F1. The original Wieprecht and Moritz instrument used five valves of the Berliner pumpen type that were the forerunners of the modern rotary valve.

5. TROMBONE The trombone has a section called the slide, which the player moves in and out to create notes. The trombone plays lower notes than the trumpet, because the tube it is made from is longer The trombone was first played around 600 years ago in England. It´s first name was Sackbut. The trombone is always played in the orchestra. It forms the middle of the orchestral bass section .
