Editors’ Note
With great excitement we are happy to publish and share our 6th annual ranking of the most
popular programs among MBAs from around the world, 2020 Ranking of MBA Development
Programs!
Tracking and analyzing the trends and students’ interests over the years is always intriguing. This
year especially, there are quite some development programs that made a huge leap forward in
the rankings. Naturally, the ranking is influenced primarily by the students’ views, however, to
understand the full picture of these changes, one must think of other underlying factors: program
locations, company changes (including acquisitions and performance), industry trends and
events, geographical market trends and events, to name a few.
In September 2020, we will be organizing the 2nd edition of the LDP Career Forum, where
employers get to increase visibility of their program in short online Q&A sessions with top MBA
talent. We would be happy to have you on board!

What are Development Programs?
Structured, intense, and often rotational, MBA Development
Programs are fast-track programs within companies to develop
and groom high-potential MBAs for future leadership roles.
They vary a lot from one program to the next as each company
tailors its programs to its specific needs: Structure, duration,
experiential experiences, function focus, rotations, mentorship
and coaching, on-the-job and formal training, etc.
However, what all of them have in common is the objective to
shape and grow the future top leaders of these organizations,
and therefore, the rigorous selection criteria to attract and recruit
the right candidates.

Our Unique Data
We track every Development Program, worldwide. We add new
programs, archive old ones, and update current ones through monthly
manual checks, regular connections with companies, as well as on-going
automatic processes to alert us of any intermediary changes.
We have two directories of development programs:
• 535* programs for MBAs under MBA-Exchange.com
• 594* programs for Masters students under Careernomics.com
This report looks exclusively at the programs on MBA-Exchange.com
and is based on +200’000** program views from our +100 client
business schools that are subscribed to this service.

* Another 500+ programs are monitored but archived as no longer active and relevant
for our candidates. Note that 217 programs appear in both directories as they target
Masters as wells as MBAs.

This report ranks 535* development programs based on
+200’000 views* between April 16, 2019 and April 15, 2020.
It is divided in several main sections with corresponding sub-
rankings. Namely we have analyzed it as follows:

We dug further into what changed from 2019 to
2020. Here is the recap of changes in the top 10:
• Amazon, Johnson & Johnson and Siemens are
holding still positions 1-3 from last year
• AB InBev gains one spot from last year, now
on place Nr 4
• Shell moves up two spots, from Nr 7 to Nr 5
• Emerson equally gains one spot from last year,
now on place Nr 7
• Danaher moves up two spots since last year,
from Nr 10 to Nr 8
• Chevron advances for 6 spots, from Nr 15 to
Nr 9
• Another surprising achievement: Microsoft
moves up for 31 places and is now on spot Nr
10
• Both GSK and J.P.Morgan slide down a few

aim to make outstanding leaders
out of the people who are leaders already.
We therefore advise you to:
• Provide solid evidence of leadership qualities
• Avoid a technical CV
• Showcase initiative, leadership, drive, people skills,
resourcefulness, humility, emotional intelligence, etc.
• Research the programs and identify the right ones for you
• Demonstrate a perfect fit with your target program (hard
skills, soft skills, as well as personality)
