Is Agile Development right for you? Many proponents would say, of course it is. But it can also be a little scary, especially if you come from a traditional approach. This presentation describes two case studies in which Agile development was successful, and some situations in which it may not be the best choice.
Post-agile approaches - agile for the real world and how to avoid agile failureYuval Yeret
A session for an ILTAM forum in Israel - Agile is really great. Can it fail? Are failures due to mismatch of practices? principles? Only implementation details?
We will look at the strengths weaknesses opportunities threats related to the major agile frameworks as well as common failure modes and what to do about them
(the actual session includes case studies from audience and agilesparks experience)
This webinar will provide guidance for proper planning and managing, in order to get your distributed teams working smoothly and effectively. Prerequisites: A working knowledge of Lean and Scrum NPD methods (stand-up meetings, user stories, backlog, sprints, burn-down charts, etc.)
We will cover the following topics in this webinar:
· Qualifying and monitoring distributed partners
· Planning an Agile project
· Project execution across time-zones and cultures
· Encouraging true Innovation and Collaboration
· Effective Internet tools
· Q&A
Lean Startup has revolutionized the startup movement. Startup world is looking like more scientific these days. Because of that reason, a flood of people are trying their hands by opening new startups. However is there anything to learn from Lean Startup for enterprises using agile methodologies currently? This session tries to answer the same - ranging from how to use Lean Startup techniques as part of Agile Product Ownership to changing current Agile practices focused towards validated learning and customer development.
Take away for audience from this session is:
* How Agile Product Management can scientifically define, what exactly to build and why?
* How some important Agile practices need to improvise themselves based on Validated Learning and Customer Development concepts of Lean Startup?
* Instead of building the MVP or product features directly and finding out later that customers don't need them, finding that out sometimes without writing even a single line of code or with minimal investment and resources.
How to Measure Agility Project Success in Business TermsEthan Ram

Relieveing the Testing Bottle Neck - WebinarCprime
When shifting to Agile, testing is often a bottleneck in the process, as it is the last step in the cycle. But, the responsibility to remove the bottleneck is not on the tester alone.
Many doubt it to be so, but Agile Development and supporting Agile software DOES have a place among Government Agencies. Tune in to see the successes and failures as the FBI attempted to utilize Agile Development practices

Gathering and defining software requirements is difficult.
One Agile technique to help address this challenge is writing user stories, which are short descriptions of functions that an end-user would want.
While user stories help convert concepts into functions, writing good user stories is easier said than done.
ome teams find it difficult to measure the success (or failure) of Agile projects. In many cases this is because the link between process and technology is absent and the right tools are not being used - or are not being used in the right way. In this presentation we will introduce Atlasssian products that bring agile reporting to life.

Lean-Agile Development with SharePoint - Bill AyersSPC Adriatics
SharePoint gives us a great platform for developing sophisticated intranet portals and collaboration sites and many other workloads. But it can also be a challenge to use modern software development frameworks like Scrum and XP. Wouldn’t it be great if we could get all the benefits of Agile practices – faster development, predictable deliveries, better quality, less stress and happy stakeholders? In this session we will cover the definitions of Lean, Agile, Scrum, Kanban, XP, and TDD. Then we will look at the specific challenges around Agile SharePoint development and some development techniques to overcome these obstacles. This talk covers both project delivery and engineering. We’ll look at unit tests, integration tests, UI tests, continuous integration and, of course, test-driven development (TDD) with practical experiences from real-life Agile SharePoint projects.
Resource Planning is one of the biggest headaches for medium to large organizations. Creating a detailed resource plan that is meaningful is very difficult, and keeping it up to date is almost impossible. Plans that look good are often an attractive fiction, full of unrealistic assumptions, over-allocations, and the spreading of too-few people in too many ways.
Agile Resource Planning provides a very different approach to the classic model. It produces realistic plans that are simple to maintain, and effective for planning work over time. In this webinar, Dr. Kevin Thompson will present new concepts in Agile Resource Planning, which provide a practical and easy-to-use approach to Resource Planning that can be used for Agile and classic environments.
A brief reflection on the Waterfall approach, review the Scrum elements and artifacts, and their purpose. Demonstrate Agile Scrum by providing real-world examples that delivered successful measurable outcomes to the business.
We provide a brief introduction to DevOps, as well as a more practical analysis on how DevOps can be implemented efficiently. We discuss the genealogy of DevOps: how it came about, what it has to do with Agile, why it has gained such attention and support, and the benefits it can provide. We touch upon the topic of how DevOps works in practice. During a live demo, we showcase how codeBeamer ALM supports the implementation of the DevOps approach.
Understand why we keep missing deadlines; what is the element that keeps making us give incorrect dates and how we can estimate better with mathematical basis!
5 Keys to Building a Successful DevOps Culture featuring Mandi WallsSerena Software
DevOps is not just about tools and processes, it’s about people and their interactions. It requires a cultural shift that impacts every level in the organization and requires everyone to contribute.
From the lean enterprise to the lean startup, organizations are increasingly turning to lean production practices to create and preserve value with less work. SharePoint’s broad deployment, mature functional capabilities and robust extensibility make it a natural candidate for lean development scenarios, yet realizing the promise of the platform is not without risk.
This session covers the basics of lean production and explores the risks and possibilities in lean development with SharePoint. Through real-world case studies we discuss the seven most important factors for accelerating time-to-value across
- Economic,
- Cultural, and
- Engineering dimensions.
This session is appropriate for business leaders exploring lean implementation strategies and experienced SharePoint technologists looking to enhance their development processes with lean practices.

Agifall - Combining Waterfall and Agile Development Process for Digital and S...Mark Fromson
We all know waterfall has generally fallen out of favour and agile is the new process wunderkind. However, is pure agile really appropriate, or even possible, for the majority of our current digital projects? If the technical team is driving the agile development process from the start, just how and when do we integrate the user experience and creative contribution into the project lifecycle? Does agile really mean development first with no upfront design or specification, or, is there a better way to make agile development more effective when it begins? Certainly agile can be problematic for client projects when the statement of work contract is king for establishing project scope ahead of time. So how do we successfully integrate the benefits of agile into client-vendor engagements without putting either party at risk? This presentation topic is on how to effectively combine the best of waterfall and agile into a hybrid process model called “Agifall.” No process is perfect, but Agifall just might be the one that works best for your next project.
Abstract
The methods used for conventional software development cannot be used directly for the development of web applications. Today
most of the companies use scrum methodology for the development of web applications. But it seem to be difficult to use the scrum
in large projects because of the change of requirement late in the project and also it is difficult apply scrum in a big team. This
paper identifies and analyses the various changes required in the scrum methodology to make them applicable for the large
projects and reduce the cost.

A Reference Architecture to Enable Visibility and Traceability across the Ent...CollabNet
Software development should not be a “black box” to the business, customers or other developers. Instead collaboration across stakeholders should be the norm--business, development and operations teams. Forrester recently reported that 13% of organizations doing Agile link “upstream” agile planning with ‘“downstream” development.
As a result, executives continue to have only limited or no visibility beyond the initial planning stage of what is in a particular release. It’s not their fault, because today’s tools focus on upfront planning and don’t give you visibility into what’s happening in development. Often times that visibility is too late resulting in software that gets delivered and does not meet the customer’s needs.
Join CollabNet’s most experienced senior solution architects as they explain how you can you gain real time visibility into all stages of the development process—from ideation into production through deployment. Imagine what can your teams get done if all stakeholders are able to collaborate together and view real time feeds into all stages of the delivery pipelines within a single easy-to-use system.
Who Should attend:
Any executive or manager interested in learning how to get traceability and visibility across the enterprise-- particularly, into the build and release management functions of their application lifecycle.
What will be covered:
An enterprise-scalable reference architecture for CI, CD, and DevOps
The importance of build management, release management and application release automation integration
A blueprint for scaling business agility across a large development organization How does CollabNet help organizations solve these problems
A demonstration of TeamForge’s capabilities using Git/Gerrit, Code Review, Jenkins, Nexus, Artifactory, Chef and Automic

Globus Compute wth IRI Workflows - GlobusWorld 2024Globus
As part of the DOE Integrated Research Infrastructure (IRI) program, NERSC at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab and ALCF at Argonne National Lab are working closely with General Atomics on accelerating the computing requirements of the DIII-D experiment. As part of the work the team is investigating ways to speedup the time to solution for many different parts of the DIII-D workflow including how they run jobs on HPC systems. One of these routes is looking at Globus Compute as a way to replace the current method for managing tasks and we describe a brief proof of concept showing how Globus Compute could help to schedule jobs and be a tool to connect compute at different facilities.
Climate Science Flows: Enabling Petabyte-Scale Climate Analysis with the Eart...Globus
The Earth System Grid Federation (ESGF) is a global network of data servers that archives and distributes the planet’s largest collection of Earth system model output for thousands of climate and environmental scientists worldwide. Many of these petabyte-scale data archives are located in proximity to large high-performance computing (HPC) or cloud computing resources, but the primary workflow for data users consists of transferring data, and applying computations on a different system. As a part of the ESGF 2.0 US project (funded by the United States Department of Energy Office of Science), we developed pre-defined data workflows, which can be run on-demand, capable of applying many data reduction and data analysis to the large ESGF data archives, transferring only the resultant analysis (ex. visualizations, smaller data files). In this talk, we will showcase a few of these workflows, highlighting how Globus Flows can be used for petabyte-scale climate analysis.
Providing Globus Services to Users of JASMIN for Environmental Data AnalysisGlobus
JASMIN is the UK’s high-performance data analysis platform for environmental science, operated by STFC on behalf of the UK Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). In addition to its role in hosting the CEDA Archive (NERC’s long-term repository for climate, atmospheric science & Earth observation data in the UK), JASMIN provides a collaborative platform to a community of around 2,000 scientists in the UK and beyond, providing nearly 400 environmental science projects with working space, compute resources and tools to facilitate their work. High-performance data transfer into and out of JASMIN has always been a key feature, with many scientists bringing model outputs from supercomputers elsewhere in the UK, to analyse against observational or other model data in the CEDA Archive. A growing number of JASMIN users are now realising the benefits of using the Globus service to provide reliable and efficient data movement and other tasks in this and other contexts. Further use cases involve long-distance (intercontinental) transfers to and from JASMIN, and collecting results from a mobile atmospheric radar system, pushing data to JASMIN via a lightweight Globus deployment. We provide details of how Globus fits into our current infrastructure, our experience of the recent migration to GCSv5.4, and of our interest in developing use of the wider ecosystem of Globus services for the benefit of our user community.
