MEDIA RELATIONS
• Media Relations adalah upaya menciptakan hubungan
profesional, dengan mengetahui posisi profesional diri,
memahami timeframe, deadline, format, serta
berbagai penerapan dari profesi media ini, dan
menggunakan media sebagai barometer di masyarakat.
(Johnston, 2007 : 1)
• Sebanyak 55% Jurnalis menggunakan press release
untuk membuat artikel (Edward and Newburry, 2007 :
3)
MEDIA RELATIONS ACTIVITES
• Menulis dan mendistribusikan press release
• Mengelola up-to-date media lists
• Update secara online mengenai organisasi (website,
blog, youtube, facebook, twitter)
• Membuat media kits
• Mengadakan konferensi media
• Fotografi
• Video & audio material
• Mendistribusikan informasi dengan interview, pidato,
menghadiri pertemuan, email, telepon, surat ke editor,
dan radio
THE MEDIA AS A
MONITORING TOOL
• Untuk memahami publik dan persepsi publik pada
produk/jasa perusahaan secara luas.
• Mendapat pengetahuan akan tindakan kompetitor.
• Sebagai evaluasi, penelitian, dan analisis dari peluang
dan trends.
• Mengetahui keefektifan perencanaan PR, termasuk
sponsorship dan community relations.
• Untuk menginfokan perusahaan ketika harus
bertindak saat isu/krisis muncul.
ADVANTAGES
• Mendapatkan awareness pada audiens yang dituju
• Menghemat uang, daripada menggunakan iklan
• Membangun dukungan publik dan menggerakan opini
publik
• Mendapatkan kredibilitas dari editorial yang baik.
DISADVANTAGES
• Kontrol yang kurang pada pesan yang terpublish
• Keakuratan tidak terjamin
• Berita bisa terlalu singkat
• Media lebih tertarik bad news, kemungkinan didramatisasi
• Social media mengalahkan media mainstream
