Images For My Magazine
1. Shoot Plan 1
Shoot
number
Clothing Hair Makeup Props Location Lighting
Shoot 1 Red coat with fur
collar, sequin
shorts and black
heels. I chose a
red jacket which
added a pop of
colour and also
created a fierce
appearance along
with the fur,
which portrayed
her as upper class
and wealthy.
Finally my
decision on the
shorts was that
they were very
revealing and
provocative which
attracts the male
audience.
I have
featured a
down,
backcombed,
wavy
hairstyle.
This is very
feminine and
big hair is
what you
expect to see
in dance
style
magazines.
I opted to go
with dark
smoky eyes,
very heavy
foundation. All
of these
elements will
work together
and produce a
flawless finish
which all the
girls who
purchase this
magazine will
aspire to be
like.
Sunglasses is the
only prop I have
chosen to use for
this shoot. The
sunglasses give the
artist more
dominance and
power. They also
portray the artist
as having a higher
profile than the
audience as she
doesn’t look
directly at the
audience
Bedroom,
with plain
background
which I can
edit out on
Photoshop.
I chose to use
forced warm
lighting this
will enhance
the artists
natural glow
and discard of
any flaws.
2. Shoot Plan 2
Shoot
number
Clothing Hair Makeup Location Lighting
Shoot 2 The two females in
these images are both
wearing revealing
shorts which will
seduce the male
audience. The crops
tops they will both be
wearing will also
reveal flesh to the
audience and appear
very provocative.
The hair again
will be down
with loose curls
and be finished
with backcomb
for volume. This
create s the
hairstyle which
most girls would
wear on a night
out clubbing.
I decided for
both females to
have a smoky
eyes alongside
red lipstick. The
red lipstick will
appear to be
seductive again
appealing to the
males.
I chose a
bedroom as the
location in order
to display two
females getting
ready for a night
out clubbing and
listening to the
newest dance
music in the
night clubs.
I decided to use
a force flash
which would
discard and
bleach out any
imperfections.
5. Front cover
I have hosen this image to feature on my front cover of my
magazine. To begin with we instantly see the prop situated in the
artists hand. I have chosen to use sunglasses as a prop as they are a
typical convention to see in a dance style magazine. The sunglasses
suggest that she is upper class, this is amplified by her stern gaze
lingering above. Moving onto her gaze, the artist appears to be
gazing to one side and not directly at the audience. This implies
that she is far too important to look directly at the audience. I have
made use of this gaze, as on my front cover I have positioned the
font in the direction which the artist is gazing in. This draws the
audiences attention towards the writing forcing them to read the
information.
I have heavily styled my artists , she has flawless hair, stunning
makeup, and fashionable clothing. All of these aspects will appeal
to my target audience. The target audience is predominantly male,
therefore they expect to see stunning females, as they’ll buy the
magazine in they see the ideal woman which they dream about.
However it will also attract the females too, as they’ll attempt to
imitate the makeup and style of the artists.
6. Double page spread
For my double page spread I chose to use a close up, side
profile shot of the artists. This shot was used in order for
the audience to immediately establish who the artist is. I
chose to feature sunglasses as a prop which creates a wall
between us and the artist. This portrays how this celebrity
is a higher class than us and also too famous to directly
look at the audience.
The hair, makeup and clothing are the same as what was
featured on the front of the magazine. I wanted to follow
these elements through, so that the audience would
instantly recognise her.
I did also choose to use forced lighting which discarded
any of her imperfections and if that didn’t succeed I also
altered it slightly in Photoshop to create a flawless final
appearance.
7. Contents Page
Finally for my contents page.
Throughout my images in my contents
page I wanted to create the impression
that two females were getting ready for
a night out. I achieved this by using
makeup and dressing tables as props.
Also as the audience opens the
contents page the images become more
informal as you want to invite the
audience in and make them feel
welcome, rather than intimidating
them.
The clothing they’re wearing is very
revealing. Such as the shorts reveal
their legs, and the crop tops reveal their
stomachs. The revealing clothing
attracts the males as it’s very
provocative and seductive.
