2. BASIC IDEA
• Wanted to incorporate live video
feed.
• Involve audience; give them
options and control over piece.
• Involve actors unfamiliar to
audience.
• Create a growing level of intensity
throughout the piece.
• Involving social media (twitter,
facebook, skype) but will work out
which will be best to use for the
performance.
• Creating a plan B to still have a
piece even if difficulties arise.
3. DOX
• We decided to call our performance
“DOX”
• The word Dox, defined as a slang word,
means;
to publish the private personal
information of (another person) or reveal
the identity of (an online poster) without
the consent of that individual.
• Due to us wanting our performance to
appear voyeuristic, we thought this
name suited with our piece
• It also has a familiar tone to “dot”, which
is another form of Alexa or Siri
4. ACTORS
• Deborah – Swedish actor
• She will be one of the main
focuses of the live-feed.
• Audience will have control
over her actions and
decisions (playing god)
• We will be a part of the
piece, but will play roles of
Artificial Intelligence (Alexa,
Siri, Echo)
5. PROCESS
• We chose Deborah as our main actor as Mel
knew her, and we thought, “hey, if we know
someone from another country, why not utilize
them?”
• We wanted an actor unknown to the audience as
we feel that, if the audience knew who she was,
they would be swayed to be less honest with
their options and opinions.
• We also want the voting to be anonymous which
is why we will do it over social media, as people
could be less ‘harsh’ as others will know which
option they voted for, swaying the vote.
• We are not yet sure what we will use for the
voting, as twitter was our initial option, but not
everyone will have an account.
6. POSSIBLE CONS
• Signal for the call/connection could
fail or lag
• Internet cutting out/being slow
• Not everyone has social media
• Trying to keep up with the feed as
well as what is happening live in the
performance space
• Not wanting to cross the line with
options/choices given to the audience
• Communication with Deborah
without the audience knowing
7. OUR MESSAGE
• What you say affects people, whether its anonymous or not
• Your life is on display and someone is always watching
• How anonymity effects peoples choices and morals
• Not to always trust everything you see on the internet
• What happens when we let the audience perceive that they have power
• How people make snap judgements based on what they first see or hear
8. IN DEVELOPMENT
• Plot: scenes that will play out depending on choices
• Creating Deborah’s profile
• What social media we are setting up
• Cast and crew
• Locations/staging
• External footage
