3. The Great British Bake Off (often
abbreviated to Bake Off or GBBO) is a
British television baking competition,
produced by Love Productions, in which
a group of amateur bakers compete
against each other in a series of rounds,
attempting to impress a group of judges
with their baking skills. One contestant is
eliminated in each round, and the winner
is selected from the contestants who
reach the finals. The first episode was
aired on 17 August 2010, with its first
four series broadcast on BBC Two, until
its growing popularity led the BBC to
move it to BBC One for the next three
series. After its seventh series, Love
Productions signed a three-year deal
with Channel 4 to produce the series for
the broadcaster.

The elder statesman of Bake Off, Paul is the only member of
the team who has been with the show since its very
beginning, originally judging alongside Mary Berry until the
move to Channel 4 in 2017.
Paul also hosts the US version of the programme, The
American Baking Competition and has served as head baker
at a number of hotels in the UK and abroad, after first
beginning his career at his father’s bakery when he was still in
his teens.

South Africa-born Prue has become a
fixture on Bake Off since making her
debut as a replacement for Mary
Berry in 2017 following the
programme’s move to Channel 4.
Bake Off was not Prue’s first
experience as a judge on a high-
profile food show, having served as a
judge on BBC Two show Great British
Menu for eleven years prior to her
Bake Off bow, and also appearing on
Channel 4’s show My Kitchen Rules.

Noel has proven a very popular Bake-Off host since first
stepping into the role following the move to Channel 4,
forming an unlikely but brilliant double act with Sandi
Toksvig.
With Sandi having left the show behind to pursue other
opportunities, some fans might have been worried that
Noel would jump ship as well – but the good news is
that the comedian and all of his exuberant outfits are
going absolutely nowhere! Matt

All sorts of names were linked with the vacant presenter role when Sandi Toksvig announced
she was stepping away from the show, but in the end it was popular comedian Matt Lucas who
was handed the role.
Of course, Matt might be new to Bake Off but he’s no stranger to most fans of British television,
having most notably been one half of the Little Britain duo alongside David Walliams and

repeats. Can’t wait for
the 2020 season to
start.'
'I absolutely love this show. I
recently discovered it on
Netflix. I love the
contestants because they
are real people.'
Oh, this show is great! I love
it so much and the pastries
look so yummy and it's an
overall great show! I've even
baked some of the stuff in it!
'Best cooking show EVER. I
learned so many tricks on
how to make baked goods
more presentable and
tastier. I wish it was on
every day!'

7. The non-diegetic music in the background that was produced by Tom Howe who is
a British musician who has composed music for over 80 films and television series.
His work includes music for The Great British Bake Off, Taskmaster, Whiskey
Cavalier, Paranormal Witness, and The Lodge. The background music is catchy and
sweet which fits perfectly as it is a baking show. The extreme close up in the intro Is
all the way through making every detail in the video that much more significant
especially when Martha Collison who is a British baker and food columnist places,
he last raspberry on the cake shows the end result of the chocolate cake which
becomes the iconic bake-off cake with the famous logo. The track camera movemnt
following the moving object makes us feel like we are there with them instead of
watch on the screen. The shallow focus of the ingredients on the side shows us the
love of baking that shifts to the deep focus of the oven door closing gives a homely
feeling within the video. The diegetic sounds of the egg cracking, oven door closing
or the electric wisk in the background emphasies the feeling of us being there and
it not being just a plain hostile video which makes a good intro for a good show.
The lighting throughout the intro is a dark warm tone which matches perfctly
matches the camera movement as well as the background music or it not being too
loud and, in your face, it is very subtle. The editing at the end of the side fade in of
the iconic famous title of ' the great british bake off' is short and swet as well as the
non-diegetic glitter magic sound that was editied in while the tle faded in gives it a
magical feeling.
