The human body has 206 bones that make up the skeleton and over 650 muscles that allow movement. Nearly half of all bones are located in the hands and feet. Food travels from the mouth through the esophagus into the stomach and then into the small intestine where nutrients are absorbed before waste is eliminated through the large intestine and anus. The brain contains billions of neurons that control functions like talking, senses, movement, hunger and breathing. Lungs breathe enough air each day to fill 1000 balloons and coughing helps clear infections, while smoking damages the lungs. All systems of the body work cooperatively to sustain life.
