"What's your sign?" inside 1970s, this is the coolest pick-up line around. Itreferred to
astrology, as with your astrological sign, or horoscope. I guess atthe beginning, guys got
women this way, but with time the girls gotsick of hearing it also it eventually become a joke.
The reason, needless to say, are these claims: in case a pickup line, or opening line, is just
too cliched, a reasonably intelligent woman will discover right through it.
The thing is, your line won't have to be essentially the most original thing in the world. It's
more important that it be natural, fitting with all the occasion, and respectful.
One of the most useful things you can do is simply say "Hi." Asking the girl's name before
you've even started speaking with each other can be seen as just a little intrusive. If "hi" gets
to be a good conversation, then of course ask for her name (and number, eventually);
otherwise, just move on.
"Wait one minute! Can't I be funny?! I thought women like guys with a sense of humor!"
there's a chance you're thinking. The answer is, we absolutely do, if it's natural and never
forced. If you make fiction about the drunk guy screaming in the end from the bar, that's
great. If you reach us and tell us a tale out of nowhere, not so great. You come off looking
desperate. And that, of course, is not what you want!
"What about her appearance?" you may be asking. "Can I tell her how hot she is?" Well, this
one's a bit tricky. While I repeat my mantra that girls LOVE compliments, you will need to
match your intensity for the situation. If you walk up to a female who is not a porn star and tell
her jane is hot and sexy, yes, she'll be flattered - but she'll also feel put on the spot. She'll
probably assume you only want to sleep together with her - and even if that's incorrect, she
won't trust it. This will put her in the defensive mode also it will be hard to get her to trust you.
Better to say something like, "That's a lovely dress". Don't talk about her body - it's
presumptuous and can be seen as insulting.
And whatever you do, don't spout a gag line. One example is "If I said you had an attractive
body, can you hold it against me?" (Get it? "Hold it against me" has two meanings; being
annoyed at someone about something and also literally holding something against someone
physically.)
So just say an easy "hello", make an observation with what is going on around you inside
moment, and hopefully you will be on your way to an excellent conversation with a fantastic
girl.
