me you don’t understand the
homework. I gave out directions
for miniposters and such but it
seems you didn’t get them or lost
them. I will also post directions
on the blog. For now just do your
best and try to complete the

Today we will be learning
about the scientific
revolution. I want you to
write a news article
announcing one of Galileo’s
discoveries.

5. Galileo:
An Italian scientist who
discovered the satellites of
Jupiter.

6. Isaac Newton:
The first person to write
down the laws of gravity.

7. Before the enlightenment,
people appealed to authorities
to decide what was true.

8. Afterwards people appealed
to reason.

9. For example, Nicholas
Copernicus used reason and
observations to explain that the
sun belonged in the center of the
solar system.

10. During the scientific revolution the
telescope and the microscope were
invented. This allowed even more
discoveries to be made.
