Reach 2009 Brochure
1. “Reaching
Neighborhoods and Nations”
Acts 1:8
• Why did you GO?
• “I work as a nurse and wanted to go to
Cambodia to use the skills and gifts that God
gave me to help people medically that cannot
otherwise get healthcare”--Melissa M.

• “We always hear about how Water of Life is providing resources for people
overseas, whether to build buildings or sponsor children. It’s so exciting to go and
see first hand how lives are changed”---Brad B.
• How did going overseas impact you?
• “I saw firsthand how diverse in practice the Christian faith is. My understanding
was limited to western theology and worship prior to the trips to Nigeria and
Thailand. I now better understand the vastness and expanse of Christians and
saw the difficulties that they face everyday in the practice of their faith compared
to our American environment”---Brenton B.
• What did you learn about God?
• “I learned the importance and power and presence of God. It’s so tangible that it
requires that you have a daily relationship with Him. Spending time with God
overseas is like breathing---you need him everyday, otherwise you feel the
oppression and spiritual darkness of everything you see.”--RR
• What has changed since you’ve been back from serving overseas?
• “My view of the world has changed. I do not look at anything the same as I did
before I went on a mission trip. Seeing with God’s eyes made me see the world
differently and I have more compassion because of it.”---Gayla G.
• Would you go again and why?
• “Yes! Without a second thought! I never felt more at home than being in Mexico,
Thailand and Cambodia. I now see ministry as a daily part of my life, walking and
serving the Lord where ever I go, not depending on any particular event”--Gen

2. Thank you for your interest in Global Outreach!
This year in Outreach we are extremely excited about the campaign we have
launched called REACH_2009: “Reaching Neighborhoods and Nations.” The Global
Outreach Leadership Team along with our church staff has worked and prayed to
build kingdom relationships with our global partners and our desire is to REACH for
more of God and REACH out to the lost and brokenhearted of the world just as
Christ does.
Our view of the mission field is HERE (local) and OVER THERE (global).
We go to serve the widows, the orphans, the sick, the homeless and the
hungry. Sometimes that means going down the street and around the
corner. Other times, that means jumping a plane for 20 hours to spend
two weeks serving and loving the people of Thailand, Cambodia, and
Africa. When we REACH out it is always in His name in order to share
His HOPE and His LOVE.
Is God tugging on your heart to step out of your comfort zone? Serving
overseas on a Missions Team may be the next step.
Meeting the needs of others and developing leaders through service is at the heart
of our REACH and we believe our church values are foundational to all God wants
to do in us.
Water of Life Community Church CORE VALUES
Equipping with the Word and the Spirit to build disciples
Healing the broken and wounded to build disciples
Sending to seek the lost to build disciples
Caring for the poor to build disciples
Connecting in relationships to build disciples
SENDING and CARING are two of the core values that Outreach is all about.
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying,
“Whom shall I SEND? And who
Will GO for us?”...
Can’t GO on a trip this year and still want to know how you can
be involved?

FAQ’s
...And I said, “Here am I, SEND me!
- Isaiah 6:8
•Sending:
• Everything about all of us likes to be comfortable but Jesus said the way to grow
is to get stretched out- Ekteno in the Greek; We need to get out of our comfort
zone.
• In Acts 12:1-3, the church in Jerusalem sent out Paul and Barnabas on the first real
"missionary" journey. The goal was to reproduce the work God had done in them and
other believers by spreading the word of Jesus’ love and transformed lives and starting
churches. This church planting model has been followed in various forms ever since.
• Our desire at Water of Life is to send teams out for short term exposure on a regular
basis, and at the same time train and expose our church to many cross-cultural types
of ministry as possible. This includes those near to us, (our valley) and those far from us
(our world).
• In our history we have sent short-term teams to 15-20 different countries, including
Malaysia, Hong Kong, Russia, China, Jamaica, Venezuela, Guatemala, Lebanon,
Panama, Kenya, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Cuba and Honduras. More recently, we have
sent teams to Nigeria, Mexico, Cambodia and Thailand.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son
and the Holy Spirit”---Matthew 28:19
•Caring:
• Whether one is a widow, an orphan or an out-of-work salesman who is destitute,
the Bible is unbending about the Church’s responsibility to care for those in need.
This is not an option for those who are the “called.”
• Repeatedly the Bible declares that the heart of the Father is for those in need. In John,
the writer asks, “But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother (or sister) in
need and closes his (or her) heart against him (or her), how does the love of God abide
in him (or her)? 1 John 3:17.
Trip costs are still being finalized. All listed information,
including trip dates is subject to change. As trips draw near,
