COVID-19 • Disease first identified in Wuhan, China in December 2019 • Caused by novel (new) coronavirus, named “SARS-COV-2” • Different than the 4 standard human coronaviruses, SARS, or MERS • Disease called “Corona Virus Disease 2019” or COVID-19 • Now in more than 100 countries, including the USA • Currently considered a “pandemic” due to sustained person-to-person transmission
- 4. Background • Majority (80%) infections are mild – 15% severe – 5% ICU • Transmissibility (R0) - ~2.4 • Case Fatality Rate - ~2% • Highest risk in 60+ and/or heart/lung disease

- Discuss the implementation of Emergency Protocol’s
- Review our local facilities capabilities during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Review any special procedures communicated to us from those facilities Encourage open dialogue between staff and administration as they may learn of new procedures or processes during day to day operations.
- Educate and communicate the clinical guidelines and assessments associated with COVID-19 STRESS the dynamic aspect of the epidemiology and potential for several changes to assessment and care throughout the outbreak.
- Review the decrease in 911 calls for service.
- Review the decrease with Interfacility requests for service.
- Continue to provide and support an atmosphere of transparent and clear communication with staff and patients regarding the current COVID-19 pandemic.
