Fall Harvest is a lesson I created for a children's Bible class. The lesson teaches about the Fruit of the Holy Spirit. The text is Galatians 6:7-10, Galatians 5:22-25.
4. Fall is a time when farmers harvest
(gather) their crops (fruits &
vegetables).
God wants to harvest a crop in your
life too. However, it’s not the same
as the fruits and vegetables in the
farmer’s garden.
6. 7 Don’t be fooled. You can’t
outsmart God. A man gathers a
crop from what he plants.
8 Some people plant to please
their sinful nature. From that
nature they will harvest death.
Others plant to please the Holy
Spirit. From the Spirit they will
harvest eternal life.
7. What kind of garden are you
planting in your life? One that
is focused on pleasing your
self and full of sinful ways?
Sinful ways include
lying…cheating…
arguing…disobedience…
hatred… Can you name other
sinful ways?
This type of garden will
produce rotten fruit. It will
only lead to death or eternal
separation from God.
8. Or instead, are planting a
garden in your life that is
focused hearing God’s voice
and following His Spirit? Do
you desire to please God and
not your sinful ways?
9. Paul describes the fruit the Holy Spirit produces
in the garden of one who commits to follow
God’s way… this life will lead to eternal life…
10. Here’s what Paul
says:
But the Holy Spirit
produces this kind of
fruit in our lives: love,
joy, peace, patience,
kindness, goodness,
faithfulness,
gentleness & self
control…
(Galatians 5:22)
13. The wages of
sin is death
But
The gift of God
is eternal life…
Romans 6:23
14. Which garden is your life, one that is led by
sinful ways , whose fruit will lead to death…
Or one who is led by God’s Holy Spirit, whose
fruit will lead to eternal life?
15. I am confident you are a garden led by God’s
Holy Spirit! (If not, you can be!)
Look what Paul says in Galatians 5:9-10…
16. ”Let us not become tired of
doing good. At the right time
we will gather a crop if we
don’t give up.
10 So when we can do good to
everyone, let us do it.
Let us make a special point of
doing good to those who
belong to the family of
believers.”
17. If you are living by God’s
Spirit, don’t give up! Don’t get
tired! Your life will bear fruit
for God!
If you know you’ve planted
bad seeds in the garden of
your life, tell God about your
sin, ask His Holy Spirit to
come into your life and feel
your life with His goodness.
You can begin to bear good
fruit in your life today and
eternal life in your future!
I
18. Paul said
24 Those who belong to
Christ Jesus have nailed
the passions and desires
of their sinful nature
(ways) to his cross and
crucified them there.
25 Since we are living by
the Spirit, let us follow
the Spirit’s leading in
every part of our
lives. …
19. Explaination:
What Paul is saying
is that God’s people
say “no” to their
selfish ways and
“yes” to God’s way.
God’s Holy Spirit
gives His people the
power to live a life
full of good fruits.
20. When God comes to the garden of your life,
will He find a harvest of Spiritual fruit that
leads to eternal life? You can pray that He will
and commit to live by His Spirit!
