Two Kingdoms
Matt 3:2
And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at
hand.
Mat 3:2 The physical kingdom was “at hand” (Luke 1:67-74).
Luke 1:67-74 67 And his father Zacharias was filled
with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying, 68
Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited
and redeemed his people, 69 And hath raised up an
horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant
David; 70 As he spake by the mouth of his holy
prophets, which have been since the world began: 71
That we should be saved from our enemies, and
from the hand of all that hate us; 72 To perform the
mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his
holy covenant; 73 The oath which he sware to our
father Abraham, 74 That he would grant unto us,
that we being delivered out of the hand of our
enemies might serve him without fear,
Two times in Luke chapter one deliverance from Israel’s
enemies is mentioned. The physical kingdom is a military
kingdom (Dan. 2:44 ; Dan. 7:21-22,27 ).
Dan 2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the God
of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be
destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other
people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all
these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
Dan 7:21-22 21 I beheld, and the same horn made
war with the saints, and prevailed against them; 22
Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was
given to the saints of the most High; and the time
came that the saints possessed the kingdom.
Dan 7:27 And the kingdom and dominion, and the
greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven,
shall be given to the people of the saints of the
most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting
kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey
him.
Both the physical and the spiritual kingdoms are present on earth
when Christ is on earth (as when Adam was ruling).
There is no Kingdom of Heaven (physical, Jewish) from 606 BC
till the tribulation.
Matt 4:17
From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent:
for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
With the temptation being ended and Christ Jesus having
passing the test that Adam failed, His earthly ministry officially
begins. His first word is, “Repent!” He was hated by the
religious leaders because of His preaching. He was VERY hard
on them, but kind and tender to the humble sinners.
“The kingdom of heaven” was “at hand” and being offered, but
the kingdom never came because He was rejected.
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE KINGDOM AND THE
CHURCH:
1. The kingdom is set up, but the church is built up (Dan. 2:44;
Eph. 2:20).
Dan 2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the God
of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be
destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other
people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all
these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
Eph 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the
apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the
chief corner stone;
2. The kingdom has heirs that inherit based on physical birth,
but the church is entered by spiritual birth (Heb. 1:14 ; Jam.
2:5 ; John 3:5-7).
Heb 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent
forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of
salvation? (This is a whole nation guaranteed
salvation by inheritance- Ps 102:28; 115:12-16’ 128:5-
6; Isa 59:21; 65:9, 22-23; Heb 9:28; Mal 4:2; Isa 11:11)
Jas 2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God
chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs
of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that
love him?
John 3:5-7 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto
thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit,
he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That
which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is
born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said
unto thee, Ye must be born again.
3. You can see the kingdom with human eyes, but the church,
which is His body, is not visible.
4. The kingdom is coming, but the church is leaving.
Matt 5:3
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of
heaven.
The kingdom of heaven will be on earth during the 1,000 year
reign of Christ. This immediately follows the Great Tribulation
and Battle of Armageddon.
The “poor in spirit” refers to someone with a broken, contrite
spirit. It is a tribulation saint that is receiving an inheritance in
the kingdom.
Matt 5:19
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least
commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called
the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall
do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the
kingdom of heaven.
The “commandments” refer back to the OT commandments. The
Jewish OT is very much connected to the Millennium when the
King of the Jews will sit on the Jewish throne in Jerusalem. The
kingdom of heaven comes to earth when Jesus Christ comes to
rule and reign. When this kingdom is in place, salvation will be
based on WORKS ONLY without faith. Faith is believing
something you CANNOT see (Heb. 11:1).
Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped
for, the evidence of things not seen.
During the Millennium, faith is not needed because you can SEE
Jesus Christ with your own eyes as He sits on the throne of David.
Therefore, salvation during the Millennium is through keeping
the Jewish law and commandments, as well as keeping the things
in Matt. 5-7.
Matt 7:21
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter
into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of
my Father which is in heaven.
The doctrinal application is made plain by the phrases “in that
day” and “into the kingdom.” “That day” (Mat 7:22) is the
Second Advent of Christ (Rev 1:10). “The kingdom” is the
earthly reign of Jesus Christ. These verses close the discussion
on “false prophets.” These “miracle-working” false prophets are
denied entrance into the physical, kingdom of heaven at the end
of the tribulation.
People that teach a faith and works salvation for the church age
use these verses to show that a NT saint can LOSE his salvation.
But it says that the Lord NEVER knew them. God knows a saved
man and he knows God. It would be a lie for God to tell a saved
man that lost salvation, “I never knew you.” In the passage the
false prophets did not lose salvation. They never had salvation.
It is impossible for the passage to be a saved, sealed NT Christian
(John 6:28-29).
John 6:28-29 28 Then said they unto him, What shall
we do, that we might work the works of God? 29
Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work
of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
However, notice how similar these verses are to the Pentecostal,
Charismatic movement with tongues, signs, and healing (2 Cor
11:13-15; 2Thes 2:9).
Matt 8:11
And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east
and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and
Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.
“The kingdom of heaven” is the coming earthly, a Jewish
kingdom. Notice that many from all directions (and nations)
will sit down in that kingdom. This is a millennial reference to
Gentiles sitting down with the Jews in the kingdom. THIS is
why the Jews hated His preaching and teaching so much. He
kept hinting about the Jew being cast off and God going to the
Gentiles. Luke13:28; Ps2:6-12; Isa2:2-5; 66:10-13; 1King4:21
Luke 13:28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of
teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and
Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God,
and you yourselves thrust out.
Ps 2:6-12 6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill
of Zion. 7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath
said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I
begotten thee. 8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee
the heathen for thine inheritance, and the
uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. 9
Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt
dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. 10 Be wise
now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges
of the earth. 11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice
with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and
ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but
a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
Isa 2:2-5 2 And it shall come to pass in the last days,
that the mountain of the LORD'S house shall be
established in the top of the mountains, and shall be
exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto
it. 3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and
let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the
house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of
his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion
shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD
from Jerusalem. 4 And he shall judge among the
nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall
beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears
into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword
against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
5 O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the
light of the LORD.
Isa 66:10-13 10 Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be
glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with
her, all ye that mourn for her: 11 That ye may suck,
and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations;
that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the
abundance of her glory. 12 For thus saith the LORD,
Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the
glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall
ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be
dandled upon her knees. 13 As one whom his mother
comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be
comforted in Jerusalem.
1Kgs 4:21 And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms
from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and
unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents,
and served Solomon all the days of his life.
(Solomon a type of Christ- sitting on the throne of
David, ruling in time of peace with the Gentile nations
serving him.)
Matt 10:5-7
5) These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them,
saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any
city of the Samaritans enter ye not:
6) But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
7) And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is
at hand.
Mat 10:5-6 This is the commission to the Apostles in the
Apostolic Age. Do not go to the Gentiles and do not go to the
half-breed (Jew and Gentile) Samaritans. In 2 Kings 17-18, it is
the half-breed Jews that gave Nehemiah the most trouble in
rebuilding (Neh. 13:23-25 ).
In Matthew, it is the physical Kingdom of Heaven that is
emphasized.
Preaching always has a negative and positive message. The
positive message is Israel can have the Kingdom they have been
promised from Gen. 49:10 and all the way through the OT.
The negative part of the message is Daniel’s 70th
week is soon to
start (the day of vengeance).
Because the Jew’s rejected their Messiah there is a longer gap of
time between Daniel’s 69th
and 70th
week. What the 12 disciples
are doing here is the same thing the two witness and the 144,000
will be doing in the Tribulation- Calling Israel to accept Jesus as
Messiah and endure the “time of Jacob’s trouble” and inherit the
Kingdom of Heaven.
The Gospel is the good news. For a Jew in the OT and Tribulation
the Gospel is the day of vengeance is soon to be complete and
Israel will be the ruler of all nations.
Isa 61:1-3 1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me;
because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good
tidings [Gospel]
unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind
up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the
captives, and the opening of the prison to them that
are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the
LORD[We do not preach the Gospel of the acceptable year of the Lord, we
preach whosoever will may come.]
, and the day of vengeance of
our God [Tribulation, Jacob’s trouble, Daniel’s 70th week]
; to comfort
all that mourn [Mat 5:3-12]
; 3 To appoint unto them that
mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes,
the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for
the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees
of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he
might be glorified.
The Kingdom of heaven the disciples are preaching is:
 Messiah will save Israel from their sins (not Gentiles) Mat.
1:21 save his people from their sins.
 Messiah will deliver Israel from their enemies Luke 1:68-
71
 Messiah will deliver from physical sickness (like under
Moses Ex 15:26; Mat 8:17)
The Jewish gospel of the kingdom had a heavy emphasis on
obeying the commandments (as it will in the Tribulation- Matt
11:1; Matt 28:20; John 15:10; John 15:14; Rev 12:17).
Matt 11:11
11) Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of
women there hath not risen a greater than John the
Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of
heaven is greater than he.
John is the end of “the prophets.” (Mat 11:13)
Matt 11:13 For all the prophets and the law
prophesied until John.
He was the greatest born of woman because he was filled with the
Holy Ghost from his mother’s womb (Lk. 1:15).
Luke 1:15 For he shall be great in the sight of the
Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink;
and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even
from his mother's womb.
Compare Luke 7:28 with Mat 11:11.
Matt 11:11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that
are born of women there hath not risen a greater
than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least
in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
Luke 7:28 For I say unto you, Among those that are
born of women there is not a greater prophet than
John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of
God is greater than he.
There are several reasons that the least in the “Kingdom of
heaven” is greater:
1. On earth, Christ will be seen, and thousands of reproductions
of Christ.
1John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and
it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know
that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for
we shall see him as he is.
2. Prophets are not allowed during the Millennium (Zech. 13:2-
6) because they are not needed.
Zech 13:2-6 2 And it shall come to pass in that day,
saith the LORD of hosts, that I will cut off the names
of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be
remembered: and also I will cause the prophets and
the unclean spirit to pass out of the land. 3 And it
shall come to pass, that when any shall yet
prophesy, then his father and his mother that
begat him shall say unto him, Thou shalt not live;
for thou speakest lies in the name of the LORD: and
his father and his mother that begat him shall thrust
him through when he prophesieth. 4 And it shall
come to pass in that day, that the prophets shall be
ashamed every one of his vision, when he hath
prophesied; neither shall they wear a rough garment
to deceive: 5 But he shall say, I am no prophet, I am
an husbandman; for man taught me to keep cattle
from my youth. 6 And one shall say unto him, What
are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall
answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house
of my friends.
3. Satan is not present to tempt people.
Rev 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that
old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and
bound him a thousand years, KJV
The reasons that the least in the “Kingdom of God” (the spiritual
kingdom available now in the “Church age”) is greater than John:
1. We have the “new birth.”
2. We have eternal security.
3. We are part of Christ’s body.
4. We have greater opportunities (His whole life was lived in an
area only 20 miles by 10 miles square).
5. The church is the Bride of Christ. John is only a friend of the
bridegroom (John 3:29 ).
Matt 11:12
And from the days of John the Baptist until now the
kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent
take it by force.
Rome took the kingdom by force.
Matt 13:11
He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto
you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but
to them it is not given.
Every Jew in the OT and the Gospels knew that when the
kingdom came, it would come to Israel (Acts1:6)
Acts 1:6 When they therefore were come together,
they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this
time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
And when it came it would be by military force overthrowing
an earthly government connected with Rome (Ps83:1-8
Isa24:1-23 Jer25:15-38 Dan2:44-45, 7:9-14 Joel3:9-17)
Ps 83:1-8 1 A Song or Psalm of Asaph. Keep not
thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not
still, O God. 2 For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult:
and they that hate thee have lifted up the head. 3
They have taken crafty counsel against thy people,
and consulted against thy hidden ones. 4 They have
said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a
nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in
remembrance. 5 For they have consulted together
with one consent: they are confederate against thee:
6 The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of
Moab, and the Hagarenes; 7 Gebal, and Ammon, and
Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre; 8
Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the
children of Lot. Selah.
Isa 24:1-23 1 Behold, the LORD maketh the earth
empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside
down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.
2 And it shall be, as with the people, so with the
priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with
the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so
with the seller; as with the lender, so with the
borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver
of usury to him. 3 The land shall be utterly emptied,
and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this
word. 4 The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the
world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty
people of the earth do languish. 5 The earth also is
defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they
have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance,
broken the everlasting covenant. 6 Therefore hath the
curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein
are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth
are burned, and few men left. 7 The new wine
mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merryhearted
do sigh. 8 The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of
them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth.
9 They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink
shall be bitter to them that drink it. 10 The city of
confusion is broken down: every house is shut up,
that no man may come in. 11 There is a crying for
wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of
the land is gone. 12 In the city is left desolation,
and the gate is smitten with destruction. 13 When
thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the
people, there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree,
and as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done.
14 They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the
majesty of the LORD, they shall cry aloud from the
sea. 15 Wherefore glorify ye the LORD in the fires,
even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the isles
of the sea. 16 From the uttermost part of the earth
have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But
I said, My leanness, my leanness, woe unto me! the
treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yea, the
treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously. 17
Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O
inhabitant of the earth. 18 And it shall come to pass,
that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall
into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst
of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows
from on high are open, and the foundations of the
earth do shake. 19 The earth is utterly broken down,
the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved
exceedingly. 20 The earth shall reel to and fro like a
drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and
the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and
it shall fall, and not rise again. 21 And it shall come to
pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the
host of the high ones that are on high, and the
kings of the earth upon the earth. 22 And they shall
be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in
the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after
many days shall they be visited. 23 Then the moon
shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when
the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and
in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.
Jer 25:15-38 15 For thus saith the LORD God of
Israel unto me; Take the wine cup of this fury at my
hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee,
to drink it. 16 And they shall drink, and be moved,
and be mad, because of the sword that I will send
among them. 17 Then took I the cup at the LORD'S
hand, and made all the nations to drink, unto whom
the LORD had sent me: 18 To wit, Jerusalem, and the
cities of Judah, and the kings thereof, and the princes
thereof, to make them a desolation, an astonishment,
an hissing, and a curse; as it is this day; 19 Pharaoh
king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and
all his people; 20 And all the mingled people, and all
the kings of the land of Uz, and all the kings of the
land of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Azzah, and
Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod, 21 Edom, and
Moab, and the children of Ammon, 22 And all the
kings of Tyrus, and all the kings of Zidon, and the
kings of the isles which are beyond the sea, 23 Dedan,
and Tema, and Buz, and all that are in the utmost
corners, 24 And all the kings of Arabia, and all the
kings of the mingled people that dwell in the desert,
25 And all the kings of Zimri, and all the kings of
Elam, and all the kings of the Medes, 26 And all the
kings of the north, far and near, one with another, and
all the kingdoms of the world, which are upon the
face of the earth: and the king of Sheshach shall drink
after them. 27 Therefore thou shalt say unto them,
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel;
Drink ye, and be drunken, and spue, and fall, and
rise no more, because of the sword which I will
send among you. 28 And it shall be, if they refuse to
take the cup at thine hand to drink, then shalt thou
say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Ye shall
certainly drink. 29 For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the
city which is called by my name, and should ye be
utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished: for I
will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the
earth, saith the LORD of hosts. 30 Therefore
prophesy thou against them all these words, and say
unto them, The LORD shall roar from on high, and
utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall
mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a
shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the
inhabitants of the earth. 31 A noise shall come even
to the ends of the earth; for the LORD hath a
controversy with the nations, he will plead with all
flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword,
saith the LORD. 32 Thus saith the LORD of hosts,
Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and
a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of
the earth. 33 And the slain of the LORD shall be at
that day from one end of the earth even unto the
other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented,
neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon
the ground. 34 Howl, ye shepherds, and cry; and
wallow yourselves in the ashes, ye principal of the
flock: for the days of your slaughter and of your
dispersions are accomplished; and ye shall fall like a
pleasant vessel. 35 And the shepherds shall have no
way to flee, nor the principal of the flock to escape.
36 A voice of the cry of the shepherds, and an
howling of the principal of the flock, shall be heard:
for the LORD hath spoiled their pasture. 37 And the
peaceable habitations are cut down because of the
fierce anger of the LORD. 38 He hath forsaken his
covert, as the lion: for their land is desolate because
of the fierceness of the oppressor, and because of his
fierce anger.
Dan 2:44-45 44 And in the days of these kings shall
the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall
never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left
to other people, but it shall break in pieces and
consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for
ever. 45 Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was
cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it
brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver,
and the gold; the great God hath made known to the
king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the
dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
Dan 7:9-14 9 I beheld till the thrones were cast
down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment
was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the
pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his
wheels as burning fire. 10 A fiery stream issued and
came forth from before him: thousand thousands
ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten
thousand stood before him: the judgment was set,
and the books were opened. 11 I beheld then
because of the voice of the great words which the
horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain,
and his body destroyed, and given to the burning
flame. 12 As concerning the rest of the beasts, they
had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were
prolonged for a season and time. 13 I saw in the
night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man
came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the
Ancient of days, and they brought him near before
him. 14 And there was given him dominion, and
glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and
languages, should serve him: his dominion is an
everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and
his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
Joel 3:9-17 9 Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles;
Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the
men of war draw near; let them come up: 10 Beat
your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks
into spears: let the weak say, I am strong. 11
Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and
gather yourselves together round about: thither cause
thy mighty ones to come down, O LORD. 12 Let the
heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of
Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the
heathen round about. 13 Put ye in the sickle, for the
harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is
full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great. 14
Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for
the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.
15 The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and
the stars shall withdraw their shining. 16 The LORD
also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from
Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall
shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people,
and the strength of the children of Israel. 17 So shall
ye know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in
Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be
holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her
any more.
It was the church age that was a mystery Eph3:1-9.
Eph 3:1-9 1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of
Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, 2 If ye have heard of the
dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to
you-ward: 3 How that by revelation he made known
unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,
4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my
knowledge in the mystery of Christ) 5 Which in other
ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it
is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets
by the Spirit; 6 That the Gentiles should be
fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of
his promise in Christ by the gospel: 7 Whereof I was
made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of
God given unto me by the effectual working of his
power. 8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all
saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among
the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; 9 And
to make all men see what is the fellowship of the
mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath
been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus
Christ:
The only way for a Jew in this age to get a kingdom is to
go through a spiritual kingdom first (John3:3-5).
John 3:3-5 3 Jesus answered and said unto him,
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born
again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4
Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born
when he is old? can he enter the second time into his
mother's womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered,
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of
water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the
kingdom of God.
Kingdom Parables:
Sower and the Seed-
Mark 4:13-20 13
And he said unto
them, Know ye
not this parable?
and how then will
ye know all
parables? 14 The
sower soweth the
word. 15 And
these are they by
Luke 8:11-15 11
Now the parable
is this: The seed
is the word of
God. 12 Those by
the way side are
they that hear;
then cometh the
devil, and taketh
away the word
the way side,
where the word
is sown(Mat 10:7)
; but
when they have
heard, Satan
cometh
immediately, and
taketh away the
word that was
sown in their
hearts. 16 And
these are they
likewise which are
sown on stony
ground; who,
when they have
heard the word,
immediately
receive it with
gladness; 17 And
have no root in
themselves, and
so endure but for
a time: afterward,
when affliction or
persecution
out of their
hearts, lest they
should believe
and be saved. 13
They on the rock
are they, which,
when they hear,
receive the word
with joy; and
these have no
root, which for a
while believe, and
in time of
temptation fall
away. 14 And that
which fell among
thorns are they,
which, when they
have heard, go
forth, and are
choked with cares
and riches and
pleasures of this
life, and bring no
fruit to perfection.
15 But that on the
ariseth for the
word's sake,
immediately they
are offended. 18
And these are
they which are
sown among
thorns; such as
hear the word, 19
And the cares of
this world, and
the deceitfulness
of riches, and the
lusts of other
things entering in,
choke the word,
and it becometh
unfruitful. 20 And
these are they
which are sown
on good ground;
such as hear the
word, and receive
it, and bring forth
fruit, some
thirtyfold, some
good ground are
they, which in an
honest and good
heart, having
heard the word,
keep it, and bring
forth fruit with
patience.
sixty, and some
an hundred.
“One of the biggest differences between the two versions
of the parable is that the seed in Matthew 13 is “the word
of the kingdom” (Matt. 13:19), which in the context would
be the literal, visible, physical Kingdom of Heaven (Matt.
13:11), with Jesus Christ as a literal, physical, visible King
on the throne of David ruling from Jerusalem (Zech. 14:9–
21; Jer. 33:15–17). The seed in Luke, though, is “the word
of God” (vs. 11), given to produce a New Birth (1 Pet. 1:23)
into a spiritual kingdom (Rom. 14:17)—the Kingdom of
God (John 3:3, 5).”
Ruckman, Dr. Peter S.. Gospel of Luke Commentary (The Bible Believer's Commentary Series) (Kindle
Locations 5626-5631). BB Bookstore. Kindle Edition.
Each kingdom has the same problem. For the kingdom of
Heaven the Jew’s had a habit of rejecting God’s word (Jer
44:17).
For the kingdom of God; Christians have the same habit of
not depending on God, therefor having no fruit (Gal 5:22-
24)
Parable of the Tares-
Matt 13:24-30
24) Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The
kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed
good seed in his field:
The Son of man, sowed the children of the kingdom in the
world (Mat. 13:37-38)
25) But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares
among the wheat, and went his way.
The Devil sowed children of the wicked one in among the
(wheat) children of the kingdom. (Mat 13:38-39)
26) But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth
fruit, then appeared the tares also.
27) So the servants of the householder came and said
unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field?
from whence then hath it tares?
28) He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The
servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and
gather them up?
29) But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye
root up also the wheat with them.
30) Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the
time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together
first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but
gather the wheat into my barn.
The servants, are the reapers which are angels (vs 39); God
lets the wicked and the children of the kingdom grow up
together till the harvest (the end of the world-vs39).
At the harvest (end of the world) the reapers (angels) gather
the tares (Children of the wicked one) first- [Armageddon]
to be burned and the children of the kingdom go into the
kingdom [Millennium].
Parable of the Mustard Seed-
Matt 13:31-32
31 Another
parable put he
forth unto them,
saying, The
kingdom of
heaven is like to a
grain of mustard
seed, which a
man took, and
sowed in his
field: 32 Which
indeed is the least
of all seeds: but
when it is grown,
Mark 4:30-32
30 And he said,
Whereunto shall
we liken the
kingdom of God?
or with what
comparison shall
we compare it?
31 It is like a
grain of mustard
seed, which,
when it is sown in
the earth, is less
than all the seeds
that be in the
Luke 13:18-19
18 Then said he,
Unto what is the
kingdom of God
like? and
whereunto shall I
resemble it? 19 It
is like a grain of
mustard seed,
which a man
took, and cast
into his garden;
and it grew, and
waxed a great
tree; and the

earth: 32 But
when it is sown, it
groweth up, and
becometh greater
than all herbs,
and shooteth out
great branches;
so that the fowls
of the air may
lodge under the
shadow of it.
fowls of the air
lodged in the
branches of it.
Mat 13:31-32 This particular kind of faith is sowed in a field.
The field is “the world”(Mat 13:38). This is a worldly faith that
becomes a MONSTER. Notice that it does not grow into a
mustard seed PLANT, but into a TREE. This is not normal.
The “birds of the air” are pictures of unclean spirits and they
come and lodge in its branches.
This Tree is a large world system that has branches these are
part of the same tree but different in appearance until you
trace their source back to the trunk of the tree. (They are
Muslim in its many forms- Sunni, Shia, Kharijite, Ibadi,
Kalām. Some of the branches of this same tree are Greek
Orthodox- of Constantinople, of Alexandria, of Antioch, of
Jerusalem.
Catholic- Eastern rite and Latin rite.
The trunk of this tree is “The Catholic Faith.” They call
themselves “THE TRUE FAITH,” but their church is directed by
unclean spirits. The mass is a perfect example and one of
many “doctrines of devils” (1 Tim. 4:1-3).
Clarence Larkin compared this parable to the Pergamos
period (“much marriage”) in Revelation 2:12-17 because
during this period the world married the church. The Roman
Emperor, Constantine, joined the Roman government with
some Christian-like practices and formedthe Roman Catholic
Church. In the Crusades period of church history, the Roman
Church invaded nations and forced them to convert to
Catholicism by force of the sword. If the victims refused to be
sprinkled and join “the church,” then they were tortured or
killed or both.
This Tree is a world leader that has dominion over all nations
and controls their buying and selling (Dan 4:10-12; Dan 4:20-
25; Rev 18:1-3; Matt 10:18-22; Ezek 31:2-12; Ezek 28:5-7).
Parable of the Leaven-
Matt 13:33 Another
parable spake he unto
Luke 13:20-21 20 And
again he said, Whereunto
them; The kingdom of
heaven is like unto leaven,
which a woman took, and
hid in three measures of
meal, till the whole was
leavened.
shall I liken the kingdom of
God? 21 It is like leaven,
which a woman took and
hid in three measures of
meal, till the whole was
leavened.
Parable of the Treasure in a field-
Matt 13:44
44) Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid
in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth,
and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and
buyeth that field.
Parable of the Pearl of great Price-
Matt 13:45-46
45) Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant
man, seeking goodly pearls:
46) Who, when he had found one pearl of great price,
went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
Parable of the Drag-net-
Matt 13:47-50
47) Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that
was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:
48) Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat
down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the
bad away.
49) So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall
come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,
50) And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall
be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Kingdom Keys:
Matt 16:19
19) And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of
heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be
bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on
earth shall be loosed in heaven.
There are no “keys” needed for entering “heaven.” These keys
are keys to THE KINGDOM of heaven. A key opens “a door”
(Rev. 3:7-8) 1 Corinth. 16:8-9, in this verse the “door” is an
opportunity to preach.
Rev 3:7-8 7 And to the angel of the church in
Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy,
he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he
that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth,
and no man openeth; 8 I know thy works: behold, I
have set before thee an open door, and no man can
shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept
my word, and hast not denied my name.
1Cor 16:8-9 8 But I will tarry at Ephesus until
Pentecost. 9 For a great door and effectual is opened
unto me, and there are many adversaries.
There are two keys given to Simon Peterand he uses them to open
the door of faith to the Jews (Acts 2) and to the Gentiles (Acts
10). These keys were for opening the kingdom of heaven, but
because of the Jewish rejection of the kingdom NO ONE preaches
the physical kingdom AFTER Acts 15 (the council at Jerusalem).
In Acts 11:15-19; Acts 14:22,27-there is a shift to the Kingdom
of God.
Acts 11:15-19 15 And as I began to speak, the Holy
Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning. 16
Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he
said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be
baptized with the Holy Ghost. 17 Forasmuch then as
God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who
believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I
could withstand God? 18 When they heard these
things, they held their peace, and glorified God,
saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted
repentance unto life. 19 Now they which were
scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose
about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus,
and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto
the Jews only.
Acts 14:22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and
exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we
must through much tribulation enter into the
kingdom of God.
Acts 14:27 And when they were come, and had
gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that
God had done with them, and how he had opened
the door of faith unto the Gentiles.
At Acts 15:7-11, Peter begins to preach faith ONLY for salvation
(Kingdom of God). Paul preached the Kingdom of God (Acts
20:20-25) and spoke of a door to preach being opened (2 Cor.
2:12).
Acts 15:7-11 7 And when there had been much
disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men
and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago
God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my
mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and
believe. 8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare
them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he
did unto us; 9 And put no difference between us and
them, purifying their hearts by faith. 10 Now
therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the
neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we
were able to bear? 11 But we believe that through the
grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even
as they.
Acts 20:20-25 20 And how I kept back nothing that
was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and
have taught you publickly, and from house to house,
21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks,
repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord
Jesus Christ. 22 And now, behold, I go bound in the
spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that
shall befall me there: 23 Save that the Holy Ghost
witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and
afflictions abide me. 24 But none of these things
move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so
that I might finish my course with joy, and the
ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to
testify the gospel of the grace of God. 25 And now,
behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone
preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no
more.
2Cor 2:12 Furthermore, when I came to Troas to
preach Christ's gospel, and a door was opened unto
me of the Lord,
The RCC uses the second part of Matt. 16:19 with John 20:23 to
prove that you should confess your sins to a RC priest.
Matt 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the
kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind
on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever
thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
John 20:23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are
remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain,
they are retained.
But this power to remit and retain sins was not just given to the
first Pope (Peter) as they assume from Matt. 16. If we compare
Matthew 18:15-18, then we see that all the Apostles had this
power and it relates to arguments between brethren and the
conclusion of church leaders in resolving such problems.
Matt 18:15-18 15 Moreover if thy brother shall
trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault
between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee,
thou hast gained thy brother. 16 But if he will not
hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that
in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word
may be established. 17 And if he shall neglect to
hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to
hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen
man and a publican. 18 Verily I say unto you,
Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in
heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall
be loosed in heaven.
On the issue of “remitting and retaining sins” according to John
20:23, it is clear that a Christian can tell someone, “You are in
your sins” based on that person’s testimony of salvation. I can
say, “You are forgiven because you have trusted the blood of
Jesus Christ to save your soul from hell.” But it is not ME doing
the forgiving (Acts 13:38-39). The RCC makes a big mistake in
teaching that their priests have power to forgive people
themselves (Mark 2:7).
John 20:23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are
remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain,
they are retained.
Acts 13:38-39 38 Be it known unto you therefore,
men and brethren, that through this man is preached
unto you the forgiveness of sins: 39 And by him all
that believe are justified from all things, from which
ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
Mark 2:7 Why doth this man thus speak
blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?
Matt 18:1-6
Matt 18
1) At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying,
Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
2) And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in
the midst of them,
3) And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted,
and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the
kingdom of heaven.
4) Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little
child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
5) And whoso shall receive one such little child in my
name receiveth me.
6) But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which
believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were
hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the
depth of the sea.
Notice that during the future “Kingdom of Heaven,” a man can
be converted BEFORE he humbles himself. This is not true in
the Church Age. In the present age, one must first humble
himself as a child, and then he can be saved.

Two Kingdoms

  • 1. Two Kingdoms Matt 3:2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Mat 3:2 The physical kingdom was “at hand” (Luke 1:67-74). Luke 1:67-74 67 And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying, 68 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people, 69 And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David; 70 As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began: 71 That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us; 72 To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant; 73 The oath which he sware to our father Abraham, 74 That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, Two times in Luke chapter one deliverance from Israel’s enemies is mentioned. The physical kingdom is a military kingdom (Dan. 2:44 ; Dan. 7:21-22,27 ).
  • 2. Dan 2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. Dan 7:21-22 21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; 22 Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom. Dan 7:27 And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him. Both the physical and the spiritual kingdoms are present on earth when Christ is on earth (as when Adam was ruling). There is no Kingdom of Heaven (physical, Jewish) from 606 BC till the tribulation. Matt 4:17
  • 3. From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. With the temptation being ended and Christ Jesus having passing the test that Adam failed, His earthly ministry officially begins. His first word is, “Repent!” He was hated by the religious leaders because of His preaching. He was VERY hard on them, but kind and tender to the humble sinners. “The kingdom of heaven” was “at hand” and being offered, but the kingdom never came because He was rejected. DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE KINGDOM AND THE CHURCH: 1. The kingdom is set up, but the church is built up (Dan. 2:44; Eph. 2:20). Dan 2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. Eph 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
  • 4. 2. The kingdom has heirs that inherit based on physical birth, but the church is entered by spiritual birth (Heb. 1:14 ; Jam. 2:5 ; John 3:5-7). Heb 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? (This is a whole nation guaranteed salvation by inheritance- Ps 102:28; 115:12-16’ 128:5- 6; Isa 59:21; 65:9, 22-23; Heb 9:28; Mal 4:2; Isa 11:11) Jas 2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? John 3:5-7 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 3. You can see the kingdom with human eyes, but the church, which is His body, is not visible. 4. The kingdom is coming, but the church is leaving. Matt 5:3
  • 5. Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. The kingdom of heaven will be on earth during the 1,000 year reign of Christ. This immediately follows the Great Tribulation and Battle of Armageddon. The “poor in spirit” refers to someone with a broken, contrite spirit. It is a tribulation saint that is receiving an inheritance in the kingdom. Matt 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. The “commandments” refer back to the OT commandments. The Jewish OT is very much connected to the Millennium when the King of the Jews will sit on the Jewish throne in Jerusalem. The kingdom of heaven comes to earth when Jesus Christ comes to rule and reign. When this kingdom is in place, salvation will be based on WORKS ONLY without faith. Faith is believing something you CANNOT see (Heb. 11:1). Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
  • 6. During the Millennium, faith is not needed because you can SEE Jesus Christ with your own eyes as He sits on the throne of David. Therefore, salvation during the Millennium is through keeping the Jewish law and commandments, as well as keeping the things in Matt. 5-7. Matt 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. The doctrinal application is made plain by the phrases “in that day” and “into the kingdom.” “That day” (Mat 7:22) is the Second Advent of Christ (Rev 1:10). “The kingdom” is the earthly reign of Jesus Christ. These verses close the discussion on “false prophets.” These “miracle-working” false prophets are denied entrance into the physical, kingdom of heaven at the end of the tribulation. People that teach a faith and works salvation for the church age use these verses to show that a NT saint can LOSE his salvation. But it says that the Lord NEVER knew them. God knows a saved man and he knows God. It would be a lie for God to tell a saved man that lost salvation, “I never knew you.” In the passage the false prophets did not lose salvation. They never had salvation. It is impossible for the passage to be a saved, sealed NT Christian (John 6:28-29).
  • 7. John 6:28-29 28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. However, notice how similar these verses are to the Pentecostal, Charismatic movement with tongues, signs, and healing (2 Cor 11:13-15; 2Thes 2:9). Matt 8:11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. “The kingdom of heaven” is the coming earthly, a Jewish kingdom. Notice that many from all directions (and nations) will sit down in that kingdom. This is a millennial reference to Gentiles sitting down with the Jews in the kingdom. THIS is why the Jews hated His preaching and teaching so much. He kept hinting about the Jew being cast off and God going to the Gentiles. Luke13:28; Ps2:6-12; Isa2:2-5; 66:10-13; 1King4:21 Luke 13:28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.
  • 8. Ps 2:6-12 6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. 7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. 8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. 9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. 10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. 11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him. Isa 2:2-5 2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD'S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. 3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears
  • 9. into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. 5 O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD. Isa 66:10-13 10 Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her: 11 That ye may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory. 12 For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees. 13 As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem. 1Kgs 4:21 And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life. (Solomon a type of Christ- sitting on the throne of David, ruling in time of peace with the Gentile nations serving him.)
  • 10. Matt 10:5-7 5) These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 6) But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7) And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Mat 10:5-6 This is the commission to the Apostles in the Apostolic Age. Do not go to the Gentiles and do not go to the half-breed (Jew and Gentile) Samaritans. In 2 Kings 17-18, it is the half-breed Jews that gave Nehemiah the most trouble in rebuilding (Neh. 13:23-25 ). In Matthew, it is the physical Kingdom of Heaven that is emphasized. Preaching always has a negative and positive message. The positive message is Israel can have the Kingdom they have been promised from Gen. 49:10 and all the way through the OT. The negative part of the message is Daniel’s 70th week is soon to start (the day of vengeance). Because the Jew’s rejected their Messiah there is a longer gap of time between Daniel’s 69th and 70th week. What the 12 disciples are doing here is the same thing the two witness and the 144,000 will be doing in the Tribulation- Calling Israel to accept Jesus as Messiah and endure the “time of Jacob’s trouble” and inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. The Gospel is the good news. For a Jew in the OT and Tribulation the Gospel is the day of vengeance is soon to be complete and Israel will be the ruler of all nations.
  • 11. Isa 61:1-3 1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings [Gospel] unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD[We do not preach the Gospel of the acceptable year of the Lord, we preach whosoever will may come.] , and the day of vengeance of our God [Tribulation, Jacob’s trouble, Daniel’s 70th week] ; to comfort all that mourn [Mat 5:3-12] ; 3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified. The Kingdom of heaven the disciples are preaching is:  Messiah will save Israel from their sins (not Gentiles) Mat. 1:21 save his people from their sins.  Messiah will deliver Israel from their enemies Luke 1:68- 71  Messiah will deliver from physical sickness (like under Moses Ex 15:26; Mat 8:17) The Jewish gospel of the kingdom had a heavy emphasis on obeying the commandments (as it will in the Tribulation- Matt 11:1; Matt 28:20; John 15:10; John 15:14; Rev 12:17).
  • 12. Matt 11:11 11) Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. John is the end of “the prophets.” (Mat 11:13) Matt 11:13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. He was the greatest born of woman because he was filled with the Holy Ghost from his mother’s womb (Lk. 1:15). Luke 1:15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. Compare Luke 7:28 with Mat 11:11. Matt 11:11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
  • 13. Luke 7:28 For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he. There are several reasons that the least in the “Kingdom of heaven” is greater: 1. The seed in Luke, though, is “the word of God” (vs. 11), given to produce a New Birth (1 Pet. 1:23) into a spiritual kingdom (Rom. 14:17)—the Kingdom of God (John 3:3, 5).” Ruckman, Dr. Peter S.. The Devil sowed children of the wicked one in among the (wheat) children of the kingdom. (Mat 13:38-39) 26) But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27) So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? 28) He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 29) But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. 30) Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
  • 30. The servants, are the reapers which are angels (vs 39); God lets the wicked and the children of the kingdom grow up together till the harvest (the end of the world-vs39). At the harvest (end of the world) the reapers (angels) gather the tares (Children of the wicked one) first- [Armageddon] to be burned and the children of the kingdom go into the kingdom [Millennium]. Parable of the Mustard Seed- Matt 13:31-32 31 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: 32 Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, Mark 4:30-32 30 And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it? 31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the Luke 13:18-19 18 Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it? 19 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the

Mat 13:31-32 This particular kind of faith is sowed in a field. The field is “the world”(Mat 13:38). This is a worldly faith that becomes a MONSTER. Notice that it does not grow into a mustard seed PLANT, but into a TREE. This is not normal. The “birds of the air” are pictures of unclean spirits and they come and lodge in its branches. This Tree is a large world system that has branches these are part of the same tree but different in appearance until you trace their source back to the trunk of the tree. The mass is a perfect example and one of many “doctrines of devils” (1 Tim. 4:1-3). Clarence Larkin compared this parable to the Pergamos period (“much marriage”) in Revelation 2:12-17 because during this period the world married the church. The Roman Emperor, Constantine, joined the Roman government with some Christian-like practices and formedthe Roman Catholic Church. In the Crusades period of church history, the Roman Church invaded nations and forced them to convert to Catholicism by force of the sword. If the victims refused to be sprinkled and join “the church,” then they were tortured or killed or both. Parable of the Pearl of great Price- Matt 13:45-46 45) Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: 46) Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it. There are two keys given to Simon Peterand he uses them to open the door of faith to the Jews (Acts 2) and to the Gentiles (Acts 10). These keys were for opening the kingdom of heaven, but because of the Jewish rejection of the kingdom NO ONE preaches the physical kingdom AFTER Acts 15 (the council at Jerusalem). Acts 14:22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God. Acts 14:27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles. At Acts 15:7-11, Peter begins to preach faith ONLY for salvation (Kingdom of God). Paul preached the Kingdom of God (Acts 20:20-25) and spoke of a door to preach being opened (2 Cor. 2:12). Acts 15:7-11 7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. 8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he

Acts 20:20-25 20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house, 21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. 22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: 23 Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. 24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God. 25 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.
  • 38. 2Cor 2:12 Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ's gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord, The RCC uses the second part of Matt. 16:19 with John 20:23 to prove that you should confess your sins to a RC priest. Matt 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. John 20:23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained. But this power to remit and retain sins was not just given to the first Pope (Peter) as they assume from Matt. 16. If we compare Matthew 18:15-18, then we see that all the Apostles had this power and it relates to arguments between brethren and the conclusion of church leaders in resolving such problems. Matt 18:15-18 15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. 16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that
  • 39. in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. 17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican. 18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. On the issue of “remitting and retaining sins” according to John 20:23, it is clear that a Christian can tell someone, “You are in your sins” based on that person’s testimony of salvation. I can say, “You are forgiven because you have trusted the blood of Jesus Christ to save your soul from hell.” But it is not ME doing the forgiving (Acts 13:38-39). The RCC makes a big mistake in teaching that their priests have power to forgive people themselves (Mark 2:7). John 20:23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained. Acts 13:38-39 38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: 39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

Notice that during the future “Kingdom of Heaven,” a man can be converted BEFORE he humbles himself. This is not true in the Church Age. In the present age, one must first humble himself as a child, and then he can be saved.
