THE FORMULA OF THE FUTURE
1. The Formula of The Future
Text: Isa 2
Intro: Ps 34:19; Pr 18:12
Ps 34:19
19) Many are the afflictions of the righteous:
but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
Prov 18:12
2. 12) Before destruction the heart of man is
haughty, and before honour is humility.
I. Humiliation (destruction)
Isa 2:6
6) Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people
the house of Jacob, because
they be replenished from the east,
and are soothsayers like the Philistines,
and they please themselves in the children
of strangers.
Ps 106:35 But were mingled among the
heathen, and learned their works.
Jer 10:2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not
the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed
at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are
dismayed at them.
3. Num 23:7 And he took up his parable, and
said, Balak the king of Moab hath brought
me from Aram, out of the mountains of the
east, saying, Come, curse me Jacob, and
come, defy Israel.
Isa 2:7
7 Their land also is full of silver and gold,
neither is there any end of their treasures; their
land is also full of horses, neither is there any
end of their chariots:
Jas 5:1-3 1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep
and howl for your miseries that shall come
upon you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your
garments are motheaten.
3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the
rust of them shall be a witness against you,
and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye
4. have heaped treasure together for the last
days.
Prov 11:4 Riches profit not in the day of
wrath: but righteousness delivereth from
death.
Eccl 5:13 There is a sore evil which I have
seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for
the owners thereof to their hurt.
Zeph 1:18 Neither their silver nor their
gold shall be able to deliver them in the day
of the LORD'S wrath; but the whole land
shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy:
for he shall make even a speedy riddance of
all them that dwell in the land.
Luke 6:24 But woe unto you that are rich!
for ye have received your consolation.
5. Isa 2:8
8 Their land also is full of idols; they worship
the work of their own hands, that which their
own fingers have made:
Acts 17:16 Now while Paul waited for
them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him,
when he saw the city wholly given to
idolatry.
Ps 115:4-8 4 Their idols are silver and
gold, the work of men's hands.
5 They have mouths, but they speak not:
eyes have they, but they see not:
6 They have ears, but they hear not: noses
have they, but they smell not:
7 They have hands, but they handle not: feet
have they, but they walk not: neither speak
they through their throat.
8 They that make them are like unto them;
so is every one that trusteth in them.
6. Dan 5:3-4 3 Then they brought the golden
vessels that were taken out of the temple of
the house of God which was at Jerusalem;
and the king, and his princes, his wives, and
his concubines, drank in them. 4 They
drank wine, and praised the gods of gold,
and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and
of stone.
Isa 2:9
9 And the mean man boweth down, and the
great man humbleth himself: therefore forgive
them not.
Isa 57:9 And thou wentest to the king with
ointment, and didst increase thy perfumes,
and didst send thy messengers far off, and
didst debase thyself even unto hell.
7. Col 2:18-19 18 Let no man beguile you of
your reward in a voluntary humility and
worshipping of angels, intruding into those
things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed
up by his fleshly mind,
19 And not holding the Head, from which
all the body by joints and bands having
nourishment ministered, and knit together,
increaseth with the increase of God.
Isa 5:15 And the mean man shall be
brought down, and the mighty man shall be
humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be
humbled:
1Tim 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh
expressly, that in the latter times some shall
depart from the faith, giving heed to
seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
8. Ezek 13:3 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe
unto the foolish prophets, that follow their
own spirit, and have seen nothing!
Rom 8:6-8 6 For to be carnally minded is
death; but to be spiritually minded is life
and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against
God: for it is not subject to the law of God,
neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot
please God.
II. Humility
Isa 2:10
10) Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the
dust, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of
his majesty.
9. III. Haughtiness
Isa 2:19-21
19) And they shall go into the holes of the
rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of
the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty,
when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
20) In that day a man shall cast his idols of
silver, and his idols of gold, which they made
each one for himself to worship, to the moles
and to the bats;
21) To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into
the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the
LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when
he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
Rev 9:6 And in those days shall men seek
death, and shall not find it; and shall desire
to die, and death shall flee from them.
Rev 9:20-21 20 And the rest of the men
which were not killed by these plagues yet
10. repented not of the works of their hands,
that they should not worship devils, and
idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and
stone, and of wood: which neither can see,
nor hear, nor walk:
21 Neither repented they of their murders,
nor of their sorceries, nor of their
fornication, nor of their thefts.
Rev 11:13 And the same hour was there a
great earthquake, and the tenth part of the
city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of
men seven thousand: and the remnant were
affrighted, and gave glory to the God of
heaven.
IV. Honour
Isa 2:2-4
2) And it shall come to pass in the last days,
that the mountain of the LORD'S house shall be
established in the top of the mountains, and
11. shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations
shall flow unto it.
3) And many people shall go and say, Come ye,
and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD,
to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will
teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his
paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and
the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
4) And he shall judge among the nations, and
shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat
their swords into plowshares, and their spears
into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword
against nation, neither shall they learn war any
more.
