In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in aIn Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a

righteousness, and inrighteousness, and in

thy words: lo, I have given thee athy words: lo, I have given thee a
wise and an understanding heart; sowise and an understanding heart; so
that there was none like thee beforethat there was none like thee before
thee, neither after thee shall anythee, neither after thee shall any
arise like unto thee.arise like unto thee.

son from beside me,son from beside me,

slept, and laid it in herslept, and laid it in her

suck, behold, it wassuck, behold, it was

And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought aAnd the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a

And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and giveAnd the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give
half to the one, and half to the other.half to the one, and half to the other.

Then spake the woman whoseThen spake the woman whose

for her bowels yearned upon herfor her bowels yearned upon her
son, and she said, O my lord,son, and she said, O my lord,
give her the living child, and in nogive her the living child, and in no

Let it be neither mine nor thine,Let it be neither mine nor thine,

Then the king answeredThen the king answered

And all Israel heard of theAnd all Israel heard of the
judgment which the kingjudgment which the king
had judged; and theyhad judged; and they

saw that the wisdom ofsaw that the wisdom of
