God drowned Pharaoh's plan to exterminate the Jews by drowning the male babies. Reuel was the priest of Midian and father-in-law of Moses. His name Jethro was a title meaning preeminence, while Hobab was a term of endearment. The name "I AM" that God used refers to His eternal existence separate from creation, as Jesus also referred to Himself with this name. Pharaoh's hardening of heart was based on God's foreknowledge, not predestination. The Ten Commandments passage in Exodus 20 is one with which every believer should be familiar.

Bible notes from Exodus
1. Bible Notes from Exodus
Ex 1:22 Drowning the Males was Pharaoh's plan to exterminate the Jew, so God drowned Pharaoh Ex

Ex 2:10 to Moses (to Draw out) God always seperates a man for training before using him Deut 18:15-

Ex 2:11 intresting the O.T. give the age of adult at 20 Num 1:3 and mature at 40 Act 7:23
Ex 2:18 Reuel is the priest of midian, he is the father in law of Moses Ex 3:1, 4:18. The name Jethro is a
title given to Reuel (means preeminence) Hobab is a term of endearment bestowed on Reuel by Zipporah
or Moses (means beloved) Num 10:29; Judg 4:11. Raguel the Midianite is the father of Reuel Num 10:29
Exodus 3:14: The “I AM” name for God obviously refers to His eternal presence, His eternal existence
separate from all creation. What’s interesting is the fact that Jesus used the same words for Himself in
John 8:58: “Before Abraham was, I am.” The statement was so powerful that the Jews then took up
stones to cast at Him (John 8:59). Another time when He used the words they fell backwards (John 18:6).
Neil Diamond also took a shot at the words in 1971, but he fell a little short, I’d say: “I am, I said . . . To no
one there . . . And no one heard at all . . . Not even the chair . . . I am, I cried . . . I am, said I . . . And I am
lost, and I can't even say why . . . Leavin' me lonely still.” Virginia Satir didn’t do any better with her 1975
humanist poem, which ends with the words, “I am me and I AM OKAY.” Not quite, honey. Not quite.
Exodus 3:19: So God knew in advance that Pharoah would not be willing to let the Israelites go. This
means that God’s hardening of Pharoah’s heart (Exo. 7:13, 9:12, 10:1, etc.) was based on supernatural
foreknowledge (I Pet. 1:2), not Calvinistic predestination.
Exodus 4:1 That’s human nature—to say “but” when God gives a command. Goats butt; sheep follow the
shepherd.
Exodus 4:8 Israel began with signs, and signs became so woven into the national heritage of Israel that
Paul writes, “For the Jews require a sign . . .” (Unless, of course, you happen to be reading any modern
perversion) The modern charismatic movement has ignored this by insisting that the apostolic signs and
wonders are for today, even though the Bible is very clear in stating that they were fulfilled in the first
century (II Cor. 12:12; Heb. 2:3-4).
Ex 7:16 "that they may serve me in the wilderness" God didn't over sell it
Ex 8:22 1/2 way through the 10 plagues the Jews were saved from comming tribulation
2. Exodus 12:13 Hence the words to the hymn: When I See the Blood.
Exodus 12:23 blood “just happens” to be applied in three places: on each side of the door and in the
middle over the door. This matches perfectly the scene at Calvary where blood is shed by the two thieves
on the left and the right of Jesus and by Jesus in the middle (Mat. 27:38). So when God saw the blood in
Exodus, He saw much more than anyone else.
Exodus 12:38 This “mixed multitude” probably contributed to the discontentment of Numbers 16:3 and
Numbers 21:5, and it was definitely a problem in Ezra 9:1-2 and Nehemiah 10:28. It’s also a problem in
America, the “melting pot” of all nations, where Sodomites, Muslims, Jews, Christians, Catholics,
Hispanics, Africans, Asians, and Europeans are all supposedly all the same and worship the same God.
Ex 12:44 Jew or Gentile if circumcised is no longer a stranger from God
Exodus 12:46 This is why Jesus had to be crucified by Romans instead of being stoned by Jews. A
stoning would have broken bones and violated Scripture (John 19:36; Psa. 34:20)

3. Exodus 15:1-18 : The whole passage has prophetic reference to the Second Coming of Christ and the
establishment of His kingdom. The final verse sums up the whole thing: “The LORD shall reign for ever
and ever” (Exodus 15:18). Get Handel's "Israel in Egypt" for a real blessing.
Exodus 15:20: Dancing is not forbidden in the Bible, but it is certainly regulated. Rather than dance in the
immediate presence of grown men, like the carnal daughter of Herodias (Mark 6:22), these ladies danced
among themselves for the purpose of praising God (Psa. 150:4) after being led away by Miriam.

Ex 19:11 2nd Adv.
Exodus 19:11: The Lord coming down on the “third day” points to the Second Coming of Christ occurring
the third millennial day after Calvary (Hos. 5:15-6:2; II Pet. 3:8-10).
Exodus 19:18 Hence the expression “holy smoke.”
Exodus 20:1-17 This is a passage with which every believer should be very familiar, the Ten
Commandments.
Exod 20:20 the fear ofGod Exod 20:20 ... God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be
before your faces, that ye sin not.
Exod 23:27 I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come,
and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee.
1Chr 13:12 And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God home to
me?
1Chr 14:17 And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the LORD brought the fear ofhim
upon all nations.
Ex 21:8 Eternal Security: once redeemed God can't sell you to another, however you may go to serve
another but it doesn't change your ownership
Exodus 21:22-23 An unborn child is treated as a human life, not merely a fetus or only part of a woman’s
body.
Ex 22:30 8th day it's all his anyway (mil. ref.)
4. Exod 23:27 the fear of God 1Chr 13:12 Exod 20:20 ... God is come to prove you, and that his fear may
be before your faces, that ye sin not.
Exod 23:27 I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I
will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee.
1Chr 13:12 And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?
1Chr 14:17 And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the LORD brought the fear of him upon
all nations.
Exodus 25:22 There was nothing visibly seen “between the two cherubims,” so the verse serves as a
good cross reference to John 4:24, which is where we are told that God is a Spirit.
Ex 30:15 1/2 Shekel only acceptable offering for atonement no percentage giving allowed God has a set
price for atonement. Jesus Christ is the only acceptable offering doesn’t matter if you are rich or poor.
Exodus 32:17-18 The music of the world sounds more like “war” than music.
Exodus 32:19 So, to this day we speak of “breaking the law.”
Exodus 32:32 This is the first mention of what appears to be the Lamb’s book of life. Also see Philippians
4:3, Revelation 3:5, 13:8, 20:11-15.
