2. WELCOME
Suny broome is approved by the department of veteran affairs as a training facility
for veterans and other eligible students. The office currently coordinates service for
more than 110 veterans who are attending classes and receiving veterans education
benefits. Referrals for counseling for financial, vocational, and academic problems.
3. Getting started checklist
• Must submit official transcripts from all previous colleges/universities they attended
for evaluation
• Request an official copy of your military transcripts be sent to the SUNY Broome
Community College Registrar’s Office.
• Once all your academic and military transcripts have been submitted to the college
make an appointment with your academic advisor to review your records.

• New York state developed five institutes of applied art and sciences which became
the core of the new community college system.
• SUNY Broome owes its existence to veterans, who were given access to education
thanks to the G.I. Bill. After the end of World War II

• Determine which benefits is best for you
• Suny broome gives you suggestions of good benefits
• Apply for your veterans education benefits by using the veterans online application
• Submit a copy of DD-214 (Member copy 4) or if drilling with the reserve or guard
submit a copy of notice of basic eligibility from reserve or guard unit officer.
• Submit a copy of your certificate eligibility
