I believe that what makes my work
interesting - particularly in the initial
stages of projects, is my way of interpretation
and expression through different
techniques of presentation.
Thinking outside the box, I can quickly
search for relevant information, set
parameters and establish relationships
that are important for the project
development. This means speed and
objectivity, important qualities in work
environments marked by short deadlines.
I was born in Recife, a northeast
state in Brazil, but moved constantly in
different moments of my life, living in
different cities - Recife, João Pessoa,
Fortaleza, Olinda and Vitória of Espirito
Santo. From a young age I learnt to
adapt to different contexts
I grew up circumscribed by rich urban
contexts, yet with incredible natural
surrounds with wonderful views, where
contrast was predominant. Places
marked by generosity in space, large
scale and typical contrasts...
Undoubtedly, this background had an
important infl uence on me and inspired
my professional trajectory. I started my
university studies on Civil Engineering.
My creative spirit and aptitudes led me
to become an architect and urbanist.
I moved to Europe, and with this came
the opportunity to expand my professional
experience.
I established residence in Maastricht –
which along with Aachen, Hasselt and
Liege form the Meuse-Rhine Euregion.
I was fascinated by the facility to cross
borders between the different countries
in the region – Netherlands, Germany
and Belgium.
This international context led me to a
master of architecture from the Academy
of Architecture and Urbanism in
Tilburg, The Netherlands, which allows
me to work as an architect and urban
planner in Europe,

Gently sloping terrain, pure volumes were arranged side by side (parallel to
the curves of levels) favoring broad view of the horizon. View also more inter-
esting when it makes use of terrace situated in the whole extension of cover-
age. Still associated with constructive simplicity and flexibility in the arrange-
ment of inner rooms, the project certainly expresses contemporaneity.

tecture, urban planning and

I joined Buro 5 Maastricht as
assistant architect and urban
designer in 1998. During
the period I worked there, I
participated actively and fol-
lowed closely the realization
of numerous projects in both
disciplines.
I had contact with the whole
project process, from legal
aspects for the planning de-
partment, growing to urban
studies and culminating in
architectural design work
and final realization.

“ Project Londenstraat.Cadixwijk. Eilandje.Antwerpen.Belgie”
Introduction
“Old Town loses to modern port.
Of a busy port changed the Eilandje during the 20th century in an area with-
out a purpose. Already at the beginning of the century showed that the Ei-
landje did not meet the continued growth of the port of Antwerp to catch. The
port was expanded further north. Port and city were increasingly separated
and the Eilandje deserted area between the two. “
Aerial view “ het Eilandje ”
For years, Buro5 was involved in preparing a masterplan for the area called
“the Eilandje”in Antwerp. (PHASE I)
Especially in the analysis phase, I was directly involved in the field of design
and making the first impressions. All this time I have closely followed the plan.
Phase 1 of masterplan “het Eilandje”
Study area Cadixwijk - Eilandje
Now the masterplan is completed and recorded, and the different architec-
tural areas are defined and in process of development, the idea came to me
for a block of “Eilandje” as my Final project location.
The site lies on the Londenstraat at Cadixwijk.
In the present situation there is a residual space whose main function park-
ing. In accordance with the masterplan will be here through two blocks of the
grid Cadixwijk be put. Because of this southern extension of the Cadixwijk the
profile of the London street narrowed and the relationship between the build-
ings and the street repaired.

study typing corners cadixwijk
Cadixwijk is considered as a whole. The strong characteristic of this district is
the presence of a orthogonal grid
As part of the survey, was conducted studies to define the corner as morpho-
logically solution applied.
The choice was made for an outstanding corner block that defines the south-
ern entrance of the neighborhood, and in de same way restores and regu-
lates chess characteristic of the Cadixwijk.
Program
Block corner
The construction to reinforce the definition and delimitation of the corner
block making use of a closed architecture and robust character, where is the
supermarket.(“ ... on the quay where the boats are anchored.)”
The upper floors, in contrast to what happens on the ground floor, open up
and show transparent. Here lie the houses.
Parking is located in the underground and from the street level, one can ob-
serve the subtle depth level. The same way as happens with the docks.
“...It is as if the quay wall marks the cutoff of Cadixwijk also at the level of the
street. Robustez same closeness of a rough wall... against sets open and
transparent karater of the housing space.”

“Hybrid and experimental site plan”. Sint Pietersberg (NL,BE)en Albert
Canal (BE)
Prefacio
“By physical, political and cultural barriers, the area is perceived as highly
divided. The project initiators aim to borders the landscape as a unit “
Design Strategy
“a design strategy where the development of a self-sufficient environment
and enhancement of the landscape and nature go hand in hand.
The toolbox provides access to technical knowledge and policy framework
for designing a self-sufficient environment, where houses and residents using
local techniques provide their own water, power and heat demand location-
specific circumstances, architecture and engineering. “
Object
Situated very specific sequence located precisely at the intersection of St.
Petersberg and the Albert Canal where infrastructure will face with nature.
Living, working and recreation in an inventive, challenging, environmentally
friendly and perhaps of greater importance is an autarkic way of life.
Where specifically urban features can be manifested in a very special form
of concealment, ideal place for an experimental site plan with attention for a
sustainable and self-government principles.
Framework
Agriculture, industry (horticulture / business task), “cave house” themed ho-
tel, short stay spaces, Disaster, outdoor amphitheater, convention, museum,
tomb, storage, energy (well, fireplace, furnace, solar, coal ...)

With this project I re-
ceived permission from
the evaluation committee
to continue my studies to
obtain the title of master
in architecture from the
academy of Architecture
and Urbanism of Tilburg
(AAS).
It is interesting mention-
ing that I was initially
inclined to urbanism, the
reason why I developed
this admission project,
but during the course of
my studies, and in line
with my professional
activities, I moved in
another direction, obtain-
ing the title of master of
architecture in 2006.

“Reys Boeck”. Vitoria. Espirito Santo. Brasil 1996
Introduction
“What seems to justify the resumption of architectural objects, desires, and
meanings in certain areas of the city is because she (the city), these areas
carries the same aura that they have like, ensuring the spot that the site and
surroundings required or that these objects still require. “
Signs and Meanings
“Signs and meanings are interrelated and the multitude of lines like that um-
bilical cords, feed and give life to the tangle of information and interdepend-
ence that is the City. “
Urban Trail
The guiding idea was to idealize route in this area through pictures, sayings
and elucidated records in chronicles, poems and literature season.
Crystallizing Points
... Ended the documentary research, here comes the great discoveries.
In special spaces found traces hypotheses, descriptions, stories and inspi-
rations that encourage, suggest, idealize and fantasize the existence of so
many other architectural objects or not. “
Occasionally build up stronger, fountains, walls, pyramids, arches, palm
trees, buttresses, piers, covered balls of fire ... and these warrant for me and
will crystallize at special points
“ Panteão Capichaba”
One that patriotism and civility because they say the exaltation of the infinite
glories Capichaba land, always fighting the enemy and bridging gaps. An air
defense and strength of character: fences, walls, ramparts and battlements.
“I simply marveled at
sites, personified myself
in descriptions of path-
ways and landscapes, re-
vived legends and tales,
as if justifying due ap-
preciations of the place;
and more, I became
involved in the feelings
and aspirations of those
who designed, described
and envisioned possible
situations and projects
for this beautiful city “

Entering this, we would be limited in this field, and ended up the stairs, we
came across the most beautiful views. Great arch frames this stage, where
the center well, a needle multifaceted glitters and simply mark the center.
From there, visions aimed mostarm the benchmarks across the city, like that
imaginary radiating lines of sight.
“ Jerônimo Monteiro”
Alignment. A straight line is like a dead end street. A street and sidewalks
that are parallel at infinity. A dash, a desire ... a glance ... After buildings are
erected and set the famous Jeronimo Monteiro, “a street that tells our story “
“ Reduto de Nossa Senhora da Victoria”
It could resemble a research or archeology, alleging the existence of a for-
tress, fortress, maybe located in the region of study design, in an idealized
elevation next to the route at the start of work. “At any point between the
Church Rosario Gomez and School Gomes Cardim “
Conclusion
Yes, the main role of architecture is reflected the facts architecturally!
Facts that justify the spaces designed, conforming them, giving his face and
due consideration.
Can associate facts of great importance to the emergence of valuable archi-
tectural examples, the monuments!
... Fact, by definition, means events and therefore be true and real.
But the facts would only be responsible for generating the architecture, or
even a monumental architecture ?
... True or not, real or fictitious, a vision, a feeling or an intuition expressed
and continues to express itself in architecture. Realizing themselves for
strength and faith, love and passion. In essence, a kernel of truth, distorted,
increased, deceived or venerated for generations, groups, classes, clans,
tribes or nations, they are configured the space, originally.
.. but it would be plausible in every manifestation of being translated into
monumental architecture?
And the city ? It is constituted only with monuments ?
Certainly not !
There you can see the proper proportions of that judge would be monument.
The city is full of events and such, will shape the monumental architecture at
those perceived as special.
... The place you may also have these features of the monument, as well as
the object itself may give such architectural significance.
Of the four projects designed by me, so they were considered special. And as
such, would constitute in my view as monuments
And do not fail to be. These facts, events, hypotheses, views, will justify ex-
clusively the configuration of these spaces.
These have in each case, its unique and unrepeatable

“For me it is impor-
tant not only under the
monument viewpoint
stylistic and aesthetic,
but rather reminiscent
of an occurrence. The
monuments are places
where something im-
portant happened, and
that set up. So naturally
go to the Pantheon and
the poor house, which
expresses something of
significance. The role of
architecture is to trans-
late these facts architec-
turally.” (my translation)
Aldo Rossi
“I believe that if there
was a thermometer
capable of measuring the
intensity of the archi-
tectural fact, should do
so upon the connection
between architecture
and context. The more
stress, greater architec-
tural quality. I believe in
the ability of architecture
to transform the context.”
