ARRIVAL is a 2016 science fiction film directed by Dennis Villeneuve, based on the short story "Story of Your Life" by Ted Chiang. It follows linguist Louise Banks, who is recruited to communicate with aliens that have landed in 12 ships around the world. She must race to crack their language code before global governments decide to attack the ships out of fear, which could lead to disaster. The film explores non-linear concepts of time through Louise's strange visions of events that may be from her past or future.
