Founder of Bangladesh Planning Commission
One of the first decisions Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman ,the
father of the nation, made after the independence was to establish the
Bangladesh Planning Commission.

• Program Planning: formulation of detailed
resource allocation to realize the Plan objectives
and goals;

• Evaluation: impact analysis of projects, programs
and Plans on the people’s living standard.
• Formulation Perspective: of country’s medium-

long-term (15-20 years) perspective.

The National Sustainable Development
Strategy (NSDS) has been prepared to meet
the formidable environmental challenges that
Bangladesh faces in the way to development.
The NSSS builds on the past rich experience of
Bangladesh and seeks to streamline and strengthen the
existing safety net programmes with a view to achieving
better results from money spent. It also broadens the
scope of Social Security from the narrow safety net
concept to include employment policies and social
insurance to address the emerging needs of a middle
income Bangladesh in 2021 and ahead. 24
