• Attend while on electives
• Alternates Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday each block
• Starts Tuesday, July 3rd at 0730

Noon Conference
• Monday-Thursday
• Attend on all rotations except nights, CCU, surgery
• You will be responsible for 3-5 presentations per year
• Meet with the chiefs to discuss your cases
• Resident case report from 1200-1230
• Focus on differential diagnosis, diagnostics, and treatment
• Board style questions and 5-10 minute lecture at the end
• General and specialty lectures from 1230-1300
• Review sessions
• Cases and supplemental materials posted to VMIMR.com

• All residents on wards attend
• Topics include atrial fibrillation, ACS, CHF,
diabetes, hyponatremia, etc.

Backup Schedule
• Check MyEvals and Amion for your schedule
• This is YOUR responsibility
• No vacation while on backup
• Expected to be at work within 2 hours of the call
• One ED intern at a time is second back up
• You can switch backup with other interns if both
parties agree – must fill out a yellow form
(located outside the Resident Lounge)

Sick Days
• Outpatient rotations or continuity clinic:
• Email Travis, Hayley, and your attending
• If in continuity clinic, call Travis - (917)-566-4480
• Inpatient rotations (wards, CCU, nights):
• Call David (541)-602-6680 and email both chiefs
• If overnight, call until we pick up – DO NOT TEXT!
• If no answer within 2 hours, call backup directly
• Call in for illness or if too fatigued to work

Duty Hours
• Less than 80 hours per week, averaged over 4
weeks
• At least 10 hours between shifts
• Log into MyEvaluations every 3 days to log your
hours
• Hours are used to pay the departments you work
in for teaching time, so it’s important that you log
your hours regularly!

Time Off
• 15 vacation days per year
• Two 5 day blocks and the other 5 days can be divided
into 2 smaller blocks, if you want
• Can only use during elective
• Must submit a yellow form (outside resident lounge)
to the chiefs 4-12 weeks prior to rotation start that is
affected. No exceptions!
• 4 weeks if clinic schedule is not affected
• 12 weeks if clinic changes are required
• 9 sick days
• 5 professional days off per year
• 2 wellness / dental visits
• Deadline for vacation requests that effect clinic for
rotation 3 is JUNE 22!

Vocera/Pager Etiquette
• Urgent – respond within 10 minutes
• Non-urgent – respond within 1 hour
• Do not page someone to your pager number
• Do not page someone to a phone then walk away
• Cell phones with local area codes are available in the
locker room for wards and night residents.
