2. DEFINITION;
Breast cancer is a disease in which cells grow in
out of control.
Breast cancer can spread outside the breast
through blood vessels and lymph vessels.
Most of the breast cancers began in the duct or
lobules.
4. STAGES OF BREAST CANCER;
There are 5 stages;
Stage 0
Stage 1A
Stage 1B
Stage 2A
Stage 2B
Stage 3A
Stage 3B
Stage 3C
Stage 4
5. STAGE 0; It is a non invasive cancer.
These cells occur in the lining of a breast duct
These is called DCIS
There is a build up of abnormal cells in the breast
lobules these is called LCIS
6. STAGE 1A;
The tumour is small and it is 2cm .
Stage 1 has not spread.
7. STAGE 1B;
No tumour can be seen in the breast
A small number of cancer cells are found in the lymph
nodes[micrometastasis].
It is no longer than 2mm.
8. STAGE 2A;
Cancer cells are found in 1 to 3 lymph nodes under the
arm.
The tumour is larger than 2cm but not more than 5cm
9. STAGE 2B;
The can also spread to 1 to 3 axillary,internal mammary
lymph nodes.
Tumour is large than 5cm.
10. STAGE 3A;
The tumour is 5cm or smaller or no tumour can be
seen in the breast.
Cancer cells are formed in 4 to 9 axillary lymph nodes.
11. STAGE 3B;
A tumour has grown into muscles of the chestwall or
the skin.
It will spread to memory lymph nodes.
It is a inflammatory breast cancer.
12. STAGE 3C;
The cancer has spread to 10 or more axillary lymph
nodes below the collar bone.
13. STAGE 4;
This is also called metastatic breast cancer.
This cancer has spread to other parts of the body such
as bone,liver,lungs or brain.
It is in curable and chronic condition.
14. BREAST SELF- EXAMINATION;
BSE is a screening method used in attempt to detect
early breast cancer.
It involoves women herself looking at and feeling each
breast for possible lumps or swelling.
Inspection before a mirror.
Palpation;lying position,standing or sitting.
