Because of articles 11 and 17 of Habitat Directive (92/43/EEC)
Training “Implementation of Habitats Directive - Habitats and Plants“
Article 17

Parameters of Reporting
- distribution of species/habitat
- area of species/habitat
- quantity/cover
- trends of population/cover
- threats and impacts
- future trends
- status of population
Training “Implementation of Habitats Directive - Habitats and Plants“
What to monitor and report?
Parameters of reporting from article 17 of Habitat Directive
for habitats of Annex I and species of Annex II, IV and V
Habitats and Species Lists
- Reference lists should be
elaborated by national experts

How do we monitor in Slovakia?
It is similar like management plan mapping, but it needs
some extra parameters to be collected
- Elaboration of 212 methods for monitoring species/habitats (web link, example)
- Designation of 8 338 permanent monitoring localities (map link)
- Development of information and monitoring system (web link)
- Development of field mapping logistic (web link, example)
- More than 200 experts
- Field monitoring visits more 14 000 during 3 years
- Budget for biological component 2,4 mil. Euros
