Database approach
Definition:
 In databaseusers can access with each other at a
same time. They can share data through database
approach
Introduction
In databaseapproachsame data is used for different
proposes.in databaseforeign key is used to identifyregistration
number of student.
The user can interact with DBMS with help of front-end
Front end
is relatedto browser and everything you send to it
Example
Example of front end is that
Behave of students in university, in class and with teacher are
same for all that is front end applicationwhich is same and we can see
Back end
Back end is how the site is work change and update.Work as an
equal server
example
Same students havedifferent activities at home which are totally
different from each other that is backend application.
Advantages of database approach
Redundancy control
Due to databaseapproachwe can avoid
from redundancycontrol.that data is appearonly once
For example in universitystudent data is save in separate
table and their result with roll number is save in different
table.becousesometime students name are same which is
difficult to search so they are search by roll number to easy
access
Roll no Name Address Phone n0

2 rubab Islamabad 00000
Data consistency
Data can be easily maintained. If we want to update data we can
update at one place and in all other place it can automaticallywill
be update
Data automicity
It ensures that the databasewill alwayshave corrected or not.
Data security
Due to saving of data in different computer so it is most secure
because data is maintaincorrectly in all computers.
Roll no Subject marks
1 Math 80
1 English 60
2 English 79
Data sharing
Database can share data in different application. If another
application needdatait can be easily send by database
Improve backup and recovery
Database approachprovide the facility of backup .if data is lost
form one computer or deleted or lost it can be easily backup .
Manageable
In database approachdata can be easily manage . for example if
college student data is store in files or vouchers some time due to
some loss or incident that voucher is lost then the data which is
saved in database approachcan easily be access.
Single update
Because data is in only one place it can be updatedonly one
reducing the time and cost of keeping the database current
Disadvantages of database approach
High cost of DBMS
High cost of databasemanagement system, expensive to
purchase and software are costly
Higher programing cost
Programmer need more informationto use this software for
which propose they hire experiences database program, they
have to pay extra cost for it
High conversion cost
If an organization converts its record to database management
data has to be converted from file to database it need more time
and difficulty
More chance of failure
In database management system if one component of system is
fail it can affect all system of computer
Types of users in database
approach
User /ender user
user and end user directly interact with data base management system.
End user have a time limit to use data or take any change if time is over
he can’t take any change in data base.it can solve problem technically.
For example a student have time limit to change their subjects in uni if he
cross the time without taking action after time he have no permition to
change subjects or department
 Top to bottom user
MIS and all other peoples who working on data are top to
bottom users
 Bottom to top users
High top level people of an organization who directly interact with data
and can change or delete data.
Data administrator
Data administrator is responsiblefor the entire data of organizations. Heis the
person who develops overall functions of databasewhich is used by organizations.
He conducts user training.
Database administration
Database administrator. ... Database administrators (DBAs) use specialized software to
store and organize data. The role may include capacity planning, installation,
configuration, database design, migration, performance monitoring, security,
troubleshooting, as well as backup and data recovery.
 Important task performed by
database management system
 Installation of software
 Monitoring of database system
 Solve the problem of database system
 Taking regular backup of database system
 Create and open a database
 The logical storage structure of the database
 The overall database design
 A backup strategy for the database
 security
