Amazon issued a patent last week for a new technology that enables Alexa to track
consumers’ physical, emotional, and behavioral states. This technology allows Alexa to
detect audible cues, such as cough or tone, how the user is feeling, emotionally or
physically, and provide responses based on that information.
For example, when a user requests voice recognition, Alexa coughs or sniffles, the
assistant can respond by asking if the user wants to order the lounges. Alexa can also use
consumer demographic and behavioral information such as age, location, accents, and
past search and purchase behavior.
