2. MELC #1 : Be able to analyze examples of assessment for the common good
of the family, school, community or society.
I. OBJECTIVES:
Using technology-aided instructions with the use of PowerPoint, the
Grade 7 students, with at least 85% accuracy, would be able to:
a. explain the common good;
b. enumerate the individual elements of common good
c. discuss the importance of respect, justice and peace.

4. The Common Good - In ordinary political discourse, the “common good”
refers to those facilities - whether material, cultural
or institutional that the members of a community
provide to all members in order to fulfill a relational
obligation they all have to care for certain interests
that they have to care for certain interest that they
have in common.

5. THREE ELEMENTS OF COMMON GOOD
1. Respect for the - in order for a society to be fair, its leaders
Individual must ensure that the rights of every individual are
recognized, respected, protected and valued.
2. The call of justice or social welfare of the group
- development is the overall focus of social responsibility that needs
to be given to people. It is also important that someone intervenes
to ensure that everyone in society can cope and reach them.
3. Peace - is the result of having peace, serenity and calmness. There is
peace when every individual is respected and justice prevails.
Peace is an indication of the common good, the stability and
security of a just order.

6. ESSENTAL QUESTIONS
1. Why do we need peace in our society?
2. What are the advantages if the community has good
relations with other people?
3. How do we specify common good to become a
responsible well-being?
