INTRODUCTION
• Binaca Geetmala was India’s most famous
program on Indian Radio
• Broadcasted by Radio Ceylon from 1952 to
1994
• Host was Ameen Sayani
• Weekly Shows ranked the popular Bollywood
Film Songs according to its demand that was
Analyzed in selected shops of major cities.
Reason For Not To Continue
• Late 1980’s, Revolution of TV change the taste and
preferences of the masses from Radio to TV
• Sayani had begun his own sweet game of promoting
composers and songs of his choice and side-lining the
lesser known talents
• The programme lost its value among listeners because
of Sayani’s own prejudices & preferences by which
he began manipulating the countdown.

(Friday, Saturday)
• Timing will be 7pm to 8pm for both the two
days
