The presentation contains the stepwise procedure to conduct one sample t test using IBM SPSS.

1. One Sample T – Test
(Procedure and Output in SPSS)

2. Data View
Data view represents the
cases/data points for
different variables.

3. Variable view
Variable view represents the
properties of all variables.
One can toggle between
data and variable view with
the shortcut ctrl + t.

4. Step 1
Running One Sample T- Test:
Go to the Analyze tab in
Menu bar, click on Compare
Means option and select
One Sample T Test.

5. Step 2
Selecting Variable:
Select continuous variable
and click on arrow to drag
it in Test Variable(s) box.

6. Step 3
1.Selecting Variable:
Give the specified mean in
Test Value box with which
you want to compare Test
variable’s mean
2. Click on the OK button to
get the output window with
Test results.

7. Descriptive Statistics
This table displays the
basic descriptive statistics
for each sub-group of
Independent Variable.

8. One sample T - Test
This table displays T – statistic with it’s significance
value to test hypothesis for equal means. It also
represents df, mean difference and 95% Confidence
Interval for differences
