Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a medical condition where a blood clot forms in one or more of the deep veins in the body, usually in the legs. Risk factors for DVT include prolonged immobility, recent surgery, older age, cancer, and a family history of blood clots. Symptoms of DVT include swelling, pain, tenderness, redness or discoloration of the skin in the affected leg.
