Objective:

Summary of Experience:
About 18+ years of experience in QA/QC activities. • Visual Inspection of welds and perform
failure – cause analysis. • Inspection and testing plan, Quality control procedure for
Fabrication, Welding, NDT including Test packs and Standards. • Knowledge in all Codes
and Standards • Having good practical and theoretical knowledge in evaluating procedures,
studying the requirements and executing the jobs. • Familiar with various welding processes.
• Capable of supervising and monitoring.
Educational Qualification:
Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering)
from University of Madras, Chennai 1993.
Certificate course in ASNT LEVEL – II (RT, UT, MPI & DPT)
Certified welding course – AWS – CWI CERT No: 08071981.
Duties and Responsibilities:
 Review all applicable drawing and standards to ensure that base metal and filler
metal are properly specified.
 Verifying chemical composition and mechanical properties of material and condition
and storage of filler metal, base material.
 Verify that the welders, welding operator and tack welders have been properly
qualified and the welding is performed in accordance with applicable codes,
specification and drawing.
 Check the materials if it is as per specification and visual check if it is free from
deformation or any damage from transportation.
 Inspection of in-coming Piping and Mechanical materials for confirmation with
Purchase Orders, Relevant Codes, Standards and Specifications.
 Preparation & Qualification of Welding Procedures & Welders for CS, AS, SS,
Materials as per ASME, AWS & API codes.
 Inspection of welding consumables like electrodes, filler wire, flux, shielding gases
etc. as per the specification / mill certificates, before Issuing for construction
 Responsible for inspection of fabrication, welding and installation of pipe spools and
Structural Steels as per the approved QCP/ITP, ASME and API section series.
 Dimensional check, Fit-up, weld visual and NDT Inspection of Pressure vessel,
Piping & Structures as per Codes and standards.
 Carryout the visual inspection before, during and after welding

2.  Monitoring the preheat temperature before welding and inter pass temperature during
welding.
 Surveillance of welding parameters and technique for compliance with welding
procedure and the storage of electrode as manufacturer recommendations.
 Witnessing all weld joint root pass after cleaning, weld joint geometry, weld size and
weld appearance.
 Conducting In process examination of joint fit up, cleanliness and variables specified
by the joining procedure including filler metals, interpass cleaning.
 Preparation of Inspection Request and maintain the inspection Reports.
 Record and mark the material traceability on the materials such as the Heat no of the
pipes, spool no, drawing no, weld no and welder symbols.
 Dimensional check, Fit-up, weld visual and NDT Inspection of Pressure vessel,
Piping & Structures as per Codes and standards.
 Preparation of Inspection Request and maintain the inspection Reports..
 Co-ordinates with NDT Tasks for RT, UT, MPI & DPT.
 Interpretation of Radiography Films.
 Monitor the weld repair activity from marking the location of defects, grinding and
welding as per approved weld repair procedure.
 Responsible for preparation of piping test packs, line checking, punching prior to
Hydrostatic and pneumatic test.
 Coordinating with third party inspection for necessary NDE requirements.
 Co-ordinating with client's project inspection unit and the subcontractor for necessary
inspection for witness and hold points.
