•The opening sequence uses a Fade transition between two elements combined in one
shot, one element being a single visual and the other being a Establishing shot. The visual
is shown first, followed by the Establishing shot.
•This sequence is setting the scene of a narrative, the Shot of an national landmark setting
the scene for a story to begin. The image of the Bristol bridge Gives the audience
something to recognise contributing to the notion of looking.
•The Visual is a close-up image of the artists logo. Like the following Establishing shot this
visual is there for audiences to remember and/or learn the Bands logo. They want us to
know what it is and advertise there music through star appeal, given area 11 are a small
band they need as much public interest as they can get, placing a large band logo in your
face in the opening seconds will do that.

•This part of the music video gives us a selection of Close-ups, extreme close ups and
point of view shots of the band leading up to this frame above. A long shot denoting the
band with their instruments leaving the car.
•The Scenes shows us the daily lifestyle of the band, rocking up to a studio with their
instruments and gear. It connotes normality, that of the public connoting to work. Just
average people leading an average life.
•There is plenty of Close up shots denoting the Band members faces, this was a clever
way of capturing all the record labels identities during the slow sequence
•This as of now is not live performance but more so a story that relates to their lifestyle.

•The Frame here denotes a Computer Screen, where someone is on an application or
piece of software and writing the songs title into a box. This is clearly the database they
are using to develop the song. They sued a Close up slightly high angled and tilted shot to
display this.
•The shot has the feel its a handheld camera ,the fuzzed out sides connotes mystery but
also misuse of the camera. This reflects the Bands personal identity being armatures, new
to the industry and experimental.
•The genre is very grunge like and this level of saturation and black and white contrast
connotes a more eerie setting.
•There is a slight intertextual reference in that, this could be any site o the internet. And
they are actively using the internet in their band. This could be promoting their social media
activity to fans.
5. TIME, 0:45
•An series of faster cutting shots denoting the band setting up in a bleak studio setting.
Medium close up, high angle match on action shot above.
•The studio is very bleak, they are having to set up the equipment themselves, no one is
there to help them. Telling us in the narrative they aren't particularly Will off, working class
people. Don't have much money. Renting out the studio with only themselves to work
around the place. We can understand that they are working hard to get the place good
enough for them to record some music.
•There is a concept of being busy, handwork and determination allows this band to
perform.

•There is a distinct relationship between the lyrics and the film in this screening. The singer
begins his first vocals as the drummer is introduced playing. This now connotes live
performance, the narrative is now the present. There is a good link with the song and its
music video that is in time with each other.
•Once again the bands personal identity showing their members faces and clothing etc.
•The whole video uses a black and white gradient typical of setting or defining a certain
mood, often for darker more emotional songs. This is also typical of the genre of music
being grunge/rock.
