This Powerpoint presentation will show you how to create a very basic 4 page leaflet using one sheet of A4 paper and Microsoft Word 2010. You will also need a printer that prints on both sides of the paper.
Open a new blank Word document. Choose the Page Layout tab from the options at the top of the page. Then look for the Margins options. Choose the Narrow Margins option so that there will be lots of space for content on the leaflet.
Still on Page Layout tab choose the Landscape option
Again from the Page Layout tab, choose Columns and followed by Two Columns from the drop down options available. The page is now split into two areas with very small margins. Think of it as two pictures with narrow frames around them sitting side by side.
Choose the Insert tab at the top of the page. Now choose the Page Break option. A second page will automatically appear next to your first page.
Each page is now split into two areas giving the four areas and thus the four pages of the leaflet.
The page numbering on the slide looks incorrect. However, pages need to be in this order for the leaflet to print out correctly. Putting the page numbers at the top of each column will help putting text and pictures into the right areas. The page numbers can be deleted when the leaflet is completed.
In order to print the leaflet out correctly set the printer to Print on Both Sides of the paper and Flip the pages on short edge. This will result in thecontent being printed the right way up on the leaflet.
Before adding your own content to create your unique leaflet save the template so that you can start over if you need to.
