Definition of Life Skills
Life Skills are defined as abilities for adaptive and
positive behavior that enable individuals to deal
effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday
life (World Health Organisation).

5. Practicing life skills leads to qualities such as self-esteem, sociability
and tolerance, competency for taking justified action and generate
change, freedom to take decision and future planning. Life skills are
thus distinctly different from physical or perceptual motor skills.
6. Self Awareness:
To be aware on:- Who am I? My characters, potentialities, strengths
and weakness, desire and dislikes.
Empathy:
Ability to imagine what life is like for another person even in a
situation that we may not be familiar with.
Critical Thinking and Creative Thinking:
is a novel way of seeing or doing things that is characteristic of four
components – fluency (generating new ideas), flexibility (shifting
perspective easily), originality (conceiving of something new), and
elaboration (building on other ideas).
Decision Making:
helps us to deal constructively with decisions about our lives.
7. Problem Solving:
helps us to deal constructively with problems in our lives.
Significant problems that are left unresolved can cause mental stress
and give rise to accompanying physical strain.
Effective Communication and Inter-personal skills:
Expressing ourselves appropriately and regulating relationships with
others.
Coping with Stress:
Recognizing the source of stress in our lives, its effects on us acting
in ways that help to control our levels of stress.
Coping Emotions:
Ability to recognize emotions in others and ourselves. Being aware
of how emotions influence behavior and being able to respond to
emotions appropriately.
8. Expected Outcome of The Training:

• The classroom will become a joyful place of learning.
• Students and teachers will be more participative, creative and interactive.
• Teachers and students will have started developing healthy interpersonal
relationships.
• Teachers will be able to identify their own and students strengths and
weaknesses. They will be able to identify and appreciate creativity of others.
• The school will be a place for joyful activity based learning. Teachers will
learn many things while teaching students how to be brave, solve problems
and understand others etc.
• Life Skills training would have impact in turning classrooms into child
friendly spaces, where there are no barriers between the teachers and
students. Whereas the training will helping the teachers to enhance their
effectiveness in classroom transactions, it will also turn the children into
independent thinkers, who have the capacities and competencies to learn
and grow on their own terms.
