Students from the 2nd Primary School of Komotini conducted experiments to determine whether various materials would sink or float in water and salt water. They made predictions and recorded their assumptions on paper before performing the experiments. The materials tested included a coin, paperclip, empty plastic bottle, cork, and wood. Most of the materials sank in fresh water, except for the empty plastic bottle and cork which floated. When tested in salt water, the wood floated instead of sinking.
