Allah SWT says in Quran:
• “Read! In the name of your Lord. ” (Alaq 1;

• “Say; Are those equal, those who know and
those who do not know? It is those who are
endued with understanding that remember
(Allah’s knowledge).” (Zumar-9)

2. Virtues of Seeking Knowledge 2
• It was related by Anas bin Malik that the Prophet
(peace be upon him) said: “Seeking knowledge is
obligatory upon every Muslim.” [Sunan Ibn Mâjah
(224) and others]
• The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever
seeks a way to acquire knowledge Allah will make
easy his way to Paradise.” [Sahîh Muslim (2699)]
• Imam Ahmad b. Hanbal had said: “We will
accompany the inkpot until our death.”

3. Categories of Islamic Knowledge?
• Islamic knowledge refers to having the correct
understanding of issues which the Qur’an and the
Sunnah have dealt with.
• The scholars have divided Islamic knowledge into
three broad categories:
Aqeedah (‫العقيدة‬) (Iman)
Fiqh (‫الفقه‬) (Islam)
Tasawuf (‫تصوف‬) (Ihsan)
