Students will consider visual rhetoric through an analysis of a cultural artifact from the community that challenges the status quo . Students should demonstrate an understanding of how the artifact(s) uses rhetoric to persuade its audience. Beyond explaining how, students will determine if the rhetoric involved is effective. To do so, students will review the artifact’s central idea, audience, design, and textual components, along with evaluating the artifact as it relates to sociocultural and/or socioeconomic factors. Although a cultural artifact can be just about anything, for the purposes of this assignment, students will focus on an item’s packaging, platform, design, and/or advertising—its visual components. Some examples are: Video game packaging iPhone screen Magazine cover Sneaker advertisement Purpose: Words and images, particularly in this era, inundate us; they are ubiquitous, working to shape our thoughts, emotions, and actions. To navigate and negotiate this information, students will develop visual literacy, an aptitude to analyze, interpret, and articulate what information has been conveyed through an object so as to better inform their cultural literacy, the ability to understand and participate in a given culture. Requirements: Ø Identification of a cultural artifact; Ø Analysis of its cultural meaning and how that information is conveyed through the rhetoric of the object; Ø Defining of the creator (rhetor), user (audience), and overall purpose of the item; Ø Evaluation effectiveness and impact; Ø Interesting title; Ø Controlling idea (thesis); Ø Clear organizational pattern/structure; Ø MLA Format (double-spaced, 12-point font, 1” margins, Times New Roman font, Works Cited page); Ø 3-5 popular and scholarly sources; Ø 5-7 pages. Audience: Ø Your peers .

This workshop will walk participants through the course design and development process, with an emphasis on blended-learning curriculum for Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) contexts. Highlighting the work of L. Dee Fink (2003) in the area of Significant Learning Experiences, we will explore the different types of learning in Fink’s Taxonomy (foundational knowledge, application, integration, human dimension, caring and learning how to learn) while familiarising ourselves with his course design framework. Participants will be challenged to consider how each phase of this framework can inform and influence their own course design decisions, specifically the creation, adoption or adaptation of materials and methods to promote the acquisition of a new language as well as broader 21st century skills. Using examples of courses recently developed for a content-based English language program for university students in Japan, the presenter will discuss how Fink’s concepts of backward design (what’s important now and years after the course, and what should students do in the course to succeed?) and forward assessment (imagining students in a situation where they would use the knowledge/skills, and focusing the learning on realistic meaningful tasks) have helped in both revamping existing courses and developing new ones. Participants will go away with several job aids to assist them in their own curriculum, course and lesson planning endeavours.

The Identi-Tee project is a technology infused experience and incorporates social learning, exploration and creativity. Identity and belonging are the main themes of the the learning experience. It's part game, part creative expression and part augmented exhibition. With a focus on people, places, and stories, we use technology directly with young people and engage them in 21st century skills by inviting them to consume, curate and create media. Participants learn collaboration, critical thinking and problem solving, communication, interviewing, personal branding, reputation management, information and media literacy, and digital citizenship. These meet many of the focuses on domains from the Victorian Curriculum and Standards.

The pricing and discounting feature is very essential for Odoo POS. Global discount is actually a discount that will apply to the entire order. And it indicates that the discount is applied to every item in the order, regardless of how much each item costs separately. This slide will show how to manage global discounts in odoo 17 POS.

Wizards are very useful for creating a good user experience. In all businesses, interactive sessions are most beneficial. To improve the user experience, wizards in Odoo provide an interactive session. For creating wizards, we can use transient models or abstract models. This gives features of a model class except the data storing. Transient and abstract models have permanent database persistence. For them, database tables are made, and the records in such tables are kept until they are specifically erased.
