STRATEGIC PLANNING

Strategic Planning
Strategic Planning
Planning is very essential for every company. Planning is very
essential since it helps a company to see the risks and the
challenges that a certain project may face. Planning also helps
an organization to allocate resources effectively which will lead
to the success of that specific project and also the growth and
development of the whole company. Strategic planning is
therefore highly needed when it comes to the development of a
new line of production. The coca cola company will have to
ensure that it has planned for its product development. There
are many areas which are required when it comes to product
development. The company should, therefore, be very careful,
and it should insist that the strategic planning is of good
quality. There are various objectives of planning, and these
should be listed to ensure that the project runs smoothly
(Annacchino, 2007). The strategic plan paper is therefore very
critical. It also considers the communication of the plans about
the project.
Potential alternatives to the issues and opportunities identified
in the SWOT Analysis
There are various issues and opportunities which have been
identified in the SWOT analysis which was carried out on the
new product to be developed by the company. There are various
alternatives which can be considered and which will ensure that
the new product will be successful in the market. One of the
issues which will be facing the coca cola's new product is the
fact that there is usually weak coordination between government
agencies. The company will have to follow the government
directives, and it will have to obtain the necessary licensing. If
there is weak coordination, the duration of obtaining these
licenses may be long, and it will affect the business. The
alternative to this is to ensure that the company has started the
process of obtaining these things will be available in time. The
company should also ensure that it has created the necessary
connections in the various governments which will help the
project development process move smoothly.
Another alternative for the new product is to ensure that it has
exploited the new markets which are emerging in the developing
economies. This will create a large customer base for the
company and the product. The company should also ensure that
they have been able to utilize the skills and the technology they
have to make the new products. This will be an alternative for
the increased cost of production which will be introduced by the
new product. The company has the best technology and also
qualified personnel hence it would be easier for the new
product. The company should also increase corporate social
responsibility for the new product's promotion. This will help
to sensitize the public about the new product which will lead to
the success of the new product. There are therefore many
alternatives for the company and the new product.
Strategic objectives
There are various strategic objectives and goals of the new
product division. The first objectives are to increase the market
share of the product. This is important to increase the earnings
from the sale of the product. The second objective is to ensure
that the competitive advantage of the product has been
improved. This will ensure that the product is more competitive
in the market. The third objective in this area of shareholder
value is to reduce the cost of production and increase the profits
from the product (Barkley, 2008). The second area deals with
customer value. The first objective is to improve the value of
the product which means that the customer will receive the high
quality product. The second objective is to ensure that
customers have been satisfied which makes them remain loyal.
The third strategic objective is to ensure that the product is
available in most parts of the world so that customers can
access the product easily.
The third area is internal operations perspective. The first
strategic objective is to improve the process of production and
make it efficient. The second objective is to ensure that the
change has been accepted by the employees in a good manner.
The third strategic objective is to improve the level of
production. On the fourth area of strategic objectives are the
learning and growth perspective. The first objective is to
support research and innovation. The second objective is to
motivate employees for high job performance. The third
objective is to improve the culture and ethics of the company.
Metric and target for the objectives
There are targets for the various objectives. The targets ensure
that evaluation is easier for the achievement of the various
objectives (Tillman, Cassone, 2013). The target of the first
objective is to ensure that the company has been able to
increase the market share of the product by 3% in the next two
and a half years. The second target is to ensure that the new
product has been rated the most competitive in the market. The
third objective is to reduce costs. The metric for this is to cut
the production and operational costs of the product by half in
the next one year. The other metric is to carry out a survey of
the value perception of the product by the customers. The
product should satisfy customer's healthy needs. The other
metric is that the product should be available in all areas that
sell the coca cola Products around the world in six months. The
other target is to introduce new technology for production of the
new product in the next one year this will help improve
productivity. The other metric is employee performance which
will mean they have adapted to the change in the next four
months. The other target is to ensure that 70% of the workers
are specialists in that area of production in three years’ time.
This will indicate the level of learning and employee growth.
Communication plan
The strategic objectives of the company have to be
communicated. Communication is very essential since it
determines how the information will be received by the
audience and whether the information will be accepted or it will
receive a massive rejection. The audience of the various
strategic objectives are the employees, the customers, and the
investors. This is to ensure that every stakeholder has been
updated on the progress of the company. There are various
channels which can be applied to communicate this information
(Sehgal, Khetarpal, 2006). To the employees, the company can
hold face to face meetings, or it can send emails. To the
customers, the company should use the digital media including
television, social media, print media and even the company's
website. The investors can be briefed during the annual general
meeting and emails can be sent to them. The use of all these
channels will ensure that the message has been communicated
effectively and efficiently. The strategic planning will,
therefore, be successful, and the company can start product
development.

Environmental and Supply Chain Analysis of the New Division
Introduction
Coca-Cola is the world’s leading beverage company. In fact, the
company is spreading smiles and opening happiness all across
the world due to its intriguing range of products. It produces a
range of more than 500 sparkling and still brands and more than
3800 beverage products. Consumers enjoy More than 1.9 billion
servings of the Coca-cola Company in more than 200 countries.
Introducing a new division that deals with products that will
favor people with chronic and other diseases will be a great
marketing strategy to the company and also for the product
itself. An example of this product is an energy drink that has
little or no sugar. This paper will, therefore, analyze the
internal and external environmental analysis, and a supply chain
analysis for the proposed new division.
Economic, Legal and Regulatory Forces and Trends
The introduction of new companies in the energy drink industry
poses a big threat to the economy in the new production unit.
The new companies create an intense competition in the market.
Also, there emerge other forces from substitute products such as
coffee. Coffee is a more affordable substitute for energy drinks.
Consumers would choose coffee over the new proposed energy
drink. It is difficult to regulate the consumers’ preferences:
whether they will choose to consume the substitute products to
the energy drinks. Also, the government may not approve the
introduction of the new production unit due to the lack of legal
framework for this new production unit.
Adaptation to Change
It is mandatory for every company to adapt to any forms of
change that may arise. For Coca-cola, it reinvents the company
and changes the manner in which the company operates, is
structured and also develops an internal and external network
(Forbes, 2013). The major priority of the company is replacing
the outdated system with a modernized platform all over the
markets worldwide, thus creating a strong view of metrics and
streamlined processes.
Supply Chain of the New Division and the Existing Business
It is important to develop a supply chain for the new division to
know how long it will take before the product gets into the
market. From the processing unit, the product will go through
the manufacturers then to the wholesalers and later on to the
retailers who sell it to the consumers directly. The product will
be delivered directly to the customers like the others products in
Coca-Cola. There should also be a good communication network
between the distributors, wholesalers, retailers and also the
consumers. Mobile coupons can be used as a blue-light for
promoting the sales of the new product. Coca-Cola Enterprises
(CCE) is the world’s biggest marketers, producers, and
distributors of the Coca-Cola Company’s products. It buys
concentrates from Coca-Cola and flavours it to various
beverages that are most common in Great Britain, Belgium,
France, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Luxembourg (CSC,
2015). Since Coca-Cola has a strong supply chain all across the
world, there will be less or no difficulties in marketing this
product across the supply chain.
Issues and/or Opportunities in the Company
Coca-Cola faces four major global challenges/issues. One major
issue is the increased competition from other emerging markets
i.e. Pepsi. Similarly, despite having a wide range of products,
the company must go on developing and innovating in
accordance to health and wellness angles. Another major issue
is that the company has to push other drink categories besides
carbonates due to the pressure to reduce sugar levels. Lastly,
the company must develop a low-calorie cola performance
because of the obesity concerns (Food and Beverage, 2015).
Despite the challenges, Coca-Cola Workforce Development and
Training offers opportunities for Brazilian youths. Coca-Cola
Brazil offers training in corporate social and environmental
management and acts as a reference for shared importance
across the company (FSG, 2016).
Hypothesis and Research Questions
Basing on the various issues discussed above, I came up with
hypothesis and research questions for each issue in the table
below.
Hypothesis
Research Question
1
Emerging markets will increase competition
Will emerging markets increase competition?
2
The company’s development and innovation will help to
improve the health and wellness angles.
Will the company’s development and innovation improve the
health and wellness angles?
3
The company should push other drink categories besides
carbonates reduce sugar levels.
Can the company reduce sugar levels in carbonates?
4
Developing a low-calorie cola performance will reduce the
obesity concerns.
Will developing a low-calorie performance reduce the obesity
concerns?
Circumstances Surrounding the Issues
One of the issues is the emerging market performance. It is
brought about by the increasing competition with global
competitors. This is an economic circumstance that is useful in
developing greater markets to beat the competition. The second
issue comes in due to the social circumstance, health, and
wellness within the soft drinks company. It is important for the
development and innovation of new health and wellness
products to meet the people’s requirements. It is similar to the
third issue that is concerned with obesity matters. Finally, all
the issues put together will bring in useful considerations before
the new product is introduced.
Conclusion
Finally, the introduction of the new unit must take into
consideration the economic, legal and regulatory trends in the
market system. The SWOT-analysis will enable the company to
view its strength, weaknesses, possible opportunities and the
threats it may face. When the above is considered, the new unit
will have a great impact on the Coca-Cola Company.

Importance of Innovation in the Coca Cola Company
The selected company is the Coca Cola Company. Generally,
the world is changing rapidly and for the coca cola company to
continue thriving over the coming years as a successful
business, it needs to look ahead, understand clearly the forces
and trends that are likely to shape and maintain its business
success. Coca cola is a company that deals with production of
soft carbonated drinks, beverages and refreshments (Patricia
2014).
The company has got three missions; to make the world
refreshed, to inspire happy moments and to make a difference
by creating values. The company’s visions includes; inspiring
people to be the best they can by ensuring that the company is a
good place to work in, producing quality beverage brands that
satisfies people’s needs and desires in the world, creating
mutual and enduring values by nurturing winning of suppliers
and customers, building and supporting sustainable communities
and the societies, maximizing profits while being mindful of
their responsibilities and finally, be a fast-moving and highly
effective organization. The company’s values are; passion,
leadership, cooperation, integrity, diversity, quality and finally
accountability. The winning culture of the coca cola company
defines their behavior and attitude that the company will require
to make their 2020 vision a reality.
Innovation is the source of everything in the coca cola
company and it is the strongest force that is behind the
production of energy drinks, sport drinks, juices, waters and
beverages by the company. Innovation motivates the company’s
workers to pack their products in environmental friendly packs.
The refrigeration equipments help in quenching their customer’s
thirst and hence contributing to their success. There are
different kinds of innovation in the coca cola company and they
include; package innovation, bottling innovation and vending
innovation to mention a few.
The unique coke bottle which was contour shaped was the first
innovative idea. This was done in order to make the company
different from its competitors. The contour bottle which is made
of glass was designed in order to improve impact resistant, cost
and reduce weight. The glass bottle is ten percent less expensive
and that innovation helps the coca cola company to achieve its
mission of maximizing profits (Rosemary 2005).
There is also the bottling innovation. Coca Cola Company’s
bottling system is among the company’s major strengths. The
bottling system allows the company to carry out business in
international scale and also maintain its local approach and
customers. The bottling partners of the coca cola company are
local businesses and they have a very strong influence in the
development of the economy and also they participate actively
in community life and that makes the coca cola company to
fulfill the company’s vision of creating mutual and enduring
values by nurturing the winning of suppliers and customers,
building and supporting sustainable communities. Lastly, there
is the vending innovation. The introduction of automated
refrigerators vending machines with metal coolers is climate
friendly and also reduces the carbon dioxide emissions. The
metal cooler uses CO2 refrigeration system And HFC free
insulation foam. These two properties reduce emission of green
house gas. This helps in achieving the company’s mission of
inspiring people to be the best they can by ensuring that the
company is a good place to work in and that the company’s
environment is safe and clean.
Business Model in the New Division
I suggest that the coca cola company should create a new
division which will be dealing with products that favors people
with chronic and other diseases. An example of this product is
an energy drink which has less or no sugar at all, not carbonated
and has a lot of nutrients for instance, a pure blended juice. The
business model for this division will include its production,
marketing and sales. The Coca Cola Company will not have
many expenses on producing this new product since it will use
refrigerating equipments and blenders of the other drinks
produced by the company. New skills will not be necessary
since the concept of producing this blend juice is just like the
other drinks.
The major expense that may arise in production of this new
product is high cost of different fruits. This is because the
product will be rich in pure fruits. This product will be
delivered to the customers just like other products produced by
the company. There should also be good connections between
distributors, retailers, wholesalers and customers. The
innovative mission statement of this new product is refreshing
the whole world by producing products that favors every
individual and ensuring there is maximization of profits. The
division is customer focused because it is targeting people with
chronic and other diseases. It is also customer focused because
it produces products that are not produces by other companies
and that will favor their customers.
Differentiation of the New Product
This new product can be differentiated in terms of its
packaging, price, product innovation, market niches and lastly,
offering best services. The company should innovate this new
product by adding some features and functions to the product
for example; the company can add the function of maintaining
healthy conditions and also add natural nutrients to the new
product and that will make the product different from other
products produced by other companies and that will give the
company competitive advantage to the market. Packaging of the
new product is also another way of differentiating the product
from other products. The company is known for its attractive
bottles and also containers. Therefore, in this kind of product,
the company should pack the product in attractive bottlers and
tumblers that clearly indicate the functions, ingredients and the
purpose of the juice. This is a very effective way of
differentiating a product since it can either attract the customer
or send away that customer. Another way of differentiating this
new product is by creating a market niche in areas where there
is no such kinds of products.
This new division addresses customer’s needs in the following
ways; it maintains their health, it is recommended for people
with chronic diseases and other diseases and it does not affect
or add problems to those who are sick. This will therefore give
the product its competitive advantage and make customers buy
that product instead of other related products.
Vision and Competitive Advantage of the New Product
As much as it is difficult to maintain a competitive advantage,
the competitive advantage of this new product can be sustained.
Competitive advantages of this product will become sustainable
when the competitors efforts to render the same services cease.
Generally, the coca cola company is an example of a company
which has sustained its competitive advantage, extensive
business model and innovation and therefore, it will not be
difficult for the company to sustain its competitive advantage
for this new product.
As discussed above, the business model for this new division
will entail the production, marketing and sales of the new
product. The Coca Cola Company will not have many expenses
on producing this new product since it will use refrigerating
equipments and blenders of other drinks. New skills will not be
necessary since the concept of producing this blend juice is just
like the other drinks. The major expense that may arise in
production of this new product is high cost of different fruits.
This is because the product will be rich in pure fruits. This
product will be delivered to the customers just like other
products produced by the company. There should also be good
connections between distributors, retailers, wholesalers and
customers. The main vision of this new product is ensuring that
people of the community and the vast world remain healthy and
refreshed. Other visions are; ensure the satisfaction of patients
needs and desires and lastly there is a vision of nurturing
customers’ trust. These visions are aligned with the company’s
general visions in the following ways; both the two have the
visions of satisfying customer’s needs, nurturing customers
trust and lastly, supporting communities. The new division
aligns with the company’s mission and values in a number of
ways. They both have the mission of making the world
refreshed, inspiring happy moments in the world and also
making a difference by creating values that favors their
customers.
In conclusion, the new product will fit into the Coca Cola
Company since it aligns with the company’s mission statement,
vision statements and also the values of the company. This
product will greatly serve people of the community and the
world and will also bring profits into the company.

Running head: MISSION AND VISION STATEMENTS 1
MISSION AND VISION STATEMENTS 4
Mission and Vision Statements
Mission and Vision Statements
There are many companies and organizations that I am willing
to work for in future after I have completed studies. Among is
Walmart company, which involves in the activities of retail. The
organization is currently ranked first in the Fortune 500
companies of the world. Like many other successful
organizations, this company has a mission and vision statement,
through which its operations are guided. The mission statement
of the organization to begin with states, “Saving people money
so they can live better.” This mission statement is the means
through which the organization intends to use to attain its
vision. Its vision statement on the other hand states, “To be the
best retailer in the hearts and minds of consumers and
employees.” The vision statement of an organization is meant
to explain the aim that the organization hopes to attain its
operations. It, therefore, guides the strategies and other
operations that the organization involves in. The mission
statement of the organization on the other hand refers to the
means the organization intends to use in (Ferguson, 2016).
Both the mission and vision statements of the organization play
a major role in the way business organizations operate. For the
case of Walmart to begin with, its vision is to becoming the best
retailing organization that both consumers and employees are
aware or. This vision is the guiding statement through which its
mission has been formulated. This is because the mission is
intended to steer the organization towards attaining its vision.
The mission concerns the organization being able to save the
money of the people and thus improving their lives. Since it is
through this mission that the organization can attain its vision
statement, all the operational strategies and plans are based on
the organization’s mission. Walmart organization, therefore,
ventures on the activities that have the capability of reducing
cost for the people and thus saving them money. When the
organization can make people spend less for more valuables, it
is highly likely to be considered the best organization in its
field and thus by aligning the strategies and operation of the
organization with the mission statement, it can attain its vision
easily.
As explained, Walmart is well known to be a significantly
successful organization. Its financial stability has enabled the
organization to be ranked first about the fortune 500 companies
in the world. This implies that the organization is currently the
company that has the highest revenues. All this success is
brought about by the operations that the organization has been
involving in. Its ability to have many customers that are loyal,
who increase its sales implies that its actions and operations
completely align with its vision and mission statements.
Being either a manager or employee in the company, both the
vision and mission statement of the organization would be the
basis through which I make decisions. The mission of Walmart,
for example, expresses that the organization aims at saving
money for the people. During the formulation and approving of
operational strategies, therefore, I would ensure that the
strategies accepted and utilized by the organization are only the
ones that are likely to save money for the people. Both the
mission and vision of the organization, therefore, would guide
me completely whether as an employee or a manager of the
organization.
In case the company did not have a mission or vision statement,
it would have significant difficulties determining its purpose
and goals. Since there are many strategies that companies can
utilize to obtain benefits, it would be extremely difficult to
determine the most appropriate strategies that align with the
purpose and aim of the organization. It is for this reason that all
organizations should aim to have mission and vision statements
(Angelica, 2001).

Running head STRATEGIC PLANNING1 STRATEGIC PLANNING5.docx

  • 1. Running head: STRATEGIC PLANNING 1 STRATEGIC PLANNING 5 Strategic Planning Strategic Planning Planning is very essential for every company. Planning is very essential since it helps a company to see the risks and the challenges that a certain project may face. Planning also helps an organization to allocate resources effectively which will lead to the success of that specific project and also the growth and development of the whole company. Strategic planning is therefore highly needed when it comes to the development of a new line of production. The coca cola company will have to ensure that it has planned for its product development. There are many areas which are required when it comes to product development. The company should, therefore, be very careful, and it should insist that the strategic planning is of good quality. There are various objectives of planning, and these should be listed to ensure that the project runs smoothly (Annacchino, 2007). The strategic plan paper is therefore very critical. It also considers the communication of the plans about the project. Potential alternatives to the issues and opportunities identified in the SWOT Analysis
  • 2. There are various issues and opportunities which have been identified in the SWOT analysis which was carried out on the new product to be developed by the company. There are various alternatives which can be considered and which will ensure that the new product will be successful in the market. One of the issues which will be facing the coca cola's new product is the fact that there is usually weak coordination between government agencies. The company will have to follow the government directives, and it will have to obtain the necessary licensing. If there is weak coordination, the duration of obtaining these licenses may be long, and it will affect the business. The alternative to this is to ensure that the company has started the process of obtaining these things will be available in time. The company should also ensure that it has created the necessary connections in the various governments which will help the project development process move smoothly. Another alternative for the new product is to ensure that it has exploited the new markets which are emerging in the developing economies. This will create a large customer base for the company and the product. The company should also ensure that they have been able to utilize the skills and the technology they have to make the new products. This will be an alternative for the increased cost of production which will be introduced by the new product. The company has the best technology and also qualified personnel hence it would be easier for the new product. The company should also increase corporate social responsibility for the new product's promotion. This will help to sensitize the public about the new product which will lead to the success of the new product. There are therefore many alternatives for the company and the new product. Strategic objectives There are various strategic objectives and goals of the new
  • 3. product division. The first objectives are to increase the market share of the product. This is important to increase the earnings from the sale of the product. The second objective is to ensure that the competitive advantage of the product has been improved. This will ensure that the product is more competitive in the market. The third objective in this area of shareholder value is to reduce the cost of production and increase the profits from the product (Barkley, 2008). The second area deals with customer value. The first objective is to improve the value of the product which means that the customer will receive the high quality product. The second objective is to ensure that customers have been satisfied which makes them remain loyal. The third strategic objective is to ensure that the product is available in most parts of the world so that customers can access the product easily. The third area is internal operations perspective. The first strategic objective is to improve the process of production and make it efficient. The second objective is to ensure that the change has been accepted by the employees in a good manner. The third strategic objective is to improve the level of production. On the fourth area of strategic objectives are the learning and growth perspective. The first objective is to support research and innovation. The second objective is to motivate employees for high job performance. The third objective is to improve the culture and ethics of the company. Metric and target for the objectives There are targets for the various objectives. The targets ensure that evaluation is easier for the achievement of the various objectives (Tillman, Cassone, 2013). The target of the first objective is to ensure that the company has been able to increase the market share of the product by 3% in the next two and a half years. The second target is to ensure that the new product has been rated the most competitive in the market. The
  • 4. third objective is to reduce costs. The metric for this is to cut the production and operational costs of the product by half in the next one year. The other metric is to carry out a survey of the value perception of the product by the customers. The product should satisfy customer's healthy needs. The other metric is that the product should be available in all areas that sell the coca cola Products around the world in six months. The other target is to introduce new technology for production of the new product in the next one year this will help improve productivity. The other metric is employee performance which will mean they have adapted to the change in the next four months. The other target is to ensure that 70% of the workers are specialists in that area of production in three years’ time. This will indicate the level of learning and employee growth. Communication plan The strategic objectives of the company have to be communicated. Communication is very essential since it determines how the information will be received by the audience and whether the information will be accepted or it will receive a massive rejection. The audience of the various strategic objectives are the employees, the customers, and the investors. This is to ensure that every stakeholder has been updated on the progress of the company. There are various channels which can be applied to communicate this information (Sehgal, Khetarpal, 2006). To the employees, the company can hold face to face meetings, or it can send emails. To the customers, the company should use the digital media including television, social media, print media and even the company's website. The investors can be briefed during the annual general meeting and emails can be sent to them. The use of all these channels will ensure that the message has been communicated effectively and efficiently. The strategic planning will, therefore, be successful, and the company can start product development.

In fact, the company is spreading smiles and opening happiness all across the world due to its intriguing range of products. It produces a range of more than 500 sparkling and still brands and more than 3800 beverage products. • 8. marketing strategy to the company and also for the product itself. An example of this product is an energy drink that has little or no sugar. This paper will, therefore, analyze the internal and external environmental analysis, and a supply chain analysis for the proposed new division. Economic, Legal and Regulatory Forces and Trends The introduction of new companies in the energy drink industry poses a big threat to the economy in the new production unit. The new companies create an intense competition in the market. Also, there emerge other forces from substitute products such as coffee. Coffee is a more affordable substitute for energy drinks. Consumers would choose coffee over the new proposed energy drink. It is difficult to regulate the consumers’ preferences: whether they will choose to consume the substitute products to the energy drinks. Also, the government may not approve the introduction of the new production unit due to the lack of legal framework for this new production unit. Adaptation to Change It is mandatory for every company to adapt to any forms of change that may arise. For Coca-cola, it reinvents the company and changes the manner in which the company operates, is structured and also develops an internal and external network (Forbes, 2013). The major priority of the company is replacing the outdated system with a modernized platform all over the markets worldwide, thus creating a strong view of metrics and streamlined processes. Supply Chain of the New Division and the Existing Business It is important to develop a supply chain for the new division to know how long it will take before the product gets into the
  • 9. market. From the processing unit, the product will go through the manufacturers then to the wholesalers and later on to the retailers who sell it to the consumers directly. The product will be delivered directly to the customers like the others products in Coca-Cola. There should also be a good communication network between the distributors, wholesalers, retailers and also the consumers. Mobile coupons can be used as a blue-light for promoting the sales of the new product. Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE) is the world’s biggest marketers, producers, and distributors of the Coca-Cola Company’s products. It buys concentrates from Coca-Cola and flavours it to various beverages that are most common in Great Britain, Belgium, France, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Luxembourg (CSC, 2015). Since Coca-Cola has a strong supply chain all across the world, there will be less or no difficulties in marketing this product across the supply chain. Issues and/or Opportunities in the Company Coca-Cola faces four major global challenges/issues. One major issue is the increased competition from other emerging markets i.e. Pepsi. Similarly, despite having a wide range of products, the company must go on developing and innovating in accordance to health and wellness angles. Another major issue is that the company has to push other drink categories besides carbonates due to the pressure to reduce sugar levels. Lastly, the company must develop a low-calorie cola performance because of the obesity concerns (Food and Beverage, 2015). Despite the challenges, Coca-Cola Workforce Development and Training offers opportunities for Brazilian youths. Coca-Cola Brazil offers training in corporate social and environmental management and acts as a reference for shared importance across the company (FSG, 2016). Hypothesis and Research Questions Basing on the various issues discussed above, I came up with
  • 10. hypothesis and research questions for each issue in the table below. Hypothesis Research Question 1 Emerging markets will increase competition Will emerging markets increase competition? 2 The company’s development and innovation will help to improve the health and wellness angles. Will the company’s development and innovation improve the health and wellness angles? 3 The company should push other drink categories besides carbonates reduce sugar levels. Can the company reduce sugar levels in carbonates? 4 Developing a low-calorie cola performance will reduce the obesity concerns. Will developing a low-calorie performance reduce the obesity concerns? Circumstances Surrounding the Issues One of the issues is the emerging market performance. It is brought about by the increasing competition with global competitors. This is an economic circumstance that is useful in developing greater markets to beat the competition. The second issue comes in due to the social circumstance, health, and wellness within the soft drinks company. It is important for the development and innovation of new health and wellness products to meet the people’s requirements. It is similar to the third issue that is concerned with obesity matters. Finally, all the issues put together will bring in useful considerations before the new product is introduced.
  • 11. Conclusion Finally, the introduction of the new unit must take into consideration the economic, legal and regulatory trends in the market system. The SWOT-analysis will enable the company to view its strength, weaknesses, possible opportunities and the threats it may face. When the above is considered, the new unit will have a great impact on the Coca-Cola Company. References CSC. (2015). CSC. • 12. Running Head: THE COCACOLA COMPANY 1 THE COCACOLA COMPANY 7 The Coca Cola Company Name University Instructor Date The Coca Cola Company Importance of Innovation in the Coca Cola Company The selected company is the Coca Cola Company. Generally, the world is changing rapidly and for the coca cola company to continue thriving over the coming years as a successful business, it needs to look ahead, understand clearly the forces and trends that are likely to shape and maintain its business success. Coca cola is a company that deals with production of soft carbonated drinks, beverages and refreshments (Patricia 2014). The company has got three missions; to make the world refreshed, to inspire happy moments and to make a difference by creating values. The company’s visions includes; inspiring people to be the best they can by ensuring that the company is a good place to work in, producing quality beverage brands that
  • 13. satisfies people’s needs and desires in the world, creating mutual and enduring values by nurturing winning of suppliers and customers, building and supporting sustainable communities and the societies, maximizing profits while being mindful of their responsibilities and finally, be a fast-moving and highly effective organization. The company’s values are; passion, leadership, cooperation, integrity, diversity, quality and finally accountability. The winning culture of the coca cola company defines their behavior and attitude that the company will require to make their 2020 vision a reality. Innovation is the source of everything in the coca cola company and it is the strongest force that is behind the production of energy drinks, sport drinks, juices, waters and beverages by the company. Innovation motivates the company’s workers to pack their products in environmental friendly packs. The refrigeration equipments help in quenching their customer’s thirst and hence contributing to their success. There are different kinds of innovation in the coca cola company and they include; package innovation, bottling innovation and vending innovation to mention a few. The unique coke bottle which was contour shaped was the first innovative idea. This was done in order to make the company different from its competitors. The contour bottle which is made of glass was designed in order to improve impact resistant, cost and reduce weight. The glass bottle is ten percent less expensive and that innovation helps the coca cola company to achieve its mission of maximizing profits (Rosemary 2005). There is also the bottling innovation. Coca Cola Company’s bottling system is among the company’s major strengths. The bottling system allows the company to carry out business in international scale and also maintain its local approach and customers. The bottling partners of the coca cola company are local businesses and they have a very strong influence in the development of the economy and also they participate actively in community life and that makes the coca cola company to fulfill the company’s vision of creating mutual and enduring
  • 14. values by nurturing the winning of suppliers and customers, building and supporting sustainable communities. Lastly, there is the vending innovation. The introduction of automated refrigerators vending machines with metal coolers is climate friendly and also reduces the carbon dioxide emissions. The metal cooler uses CO2 refrigeration system And HFC free insulation foam. These two properties reduce emission of green house gas. This helps in achieving the company’s mission of inspiring people to be the best they can by ensuring that the company is a good place to work in and that the company’s environment is safe and clean. Business Model in the New Division I suggest that the coca cola company should create a new division which will be dealing with products that favors people with chronic and other diseases. An example of this product is an energy drink which has less or no sugar at all, not carbonated and has a lot of nutrients for instance, a pure blended juice. The business model for this division will include its production, marketing and sales. The Coca Cola Company will not have many expenses on producing this new product since it will use refrigerating equipments and blenders of the other drinks produced by the company. New skills will not be necessary since the concept of producing this blend juice is just like the other drinks. The major expense that may arise in production of this new product is high cost of different fruits. This is because the product will be rich in pure fruits. This product will be delivered to the customers just like other products produced by the company. There should also be good connections between distributors, retailers, wholesalers and customers. The innovative mission statement of this new product is refreshing the whole world by producing products that favors every individual and ensuring there is maximization of profits. The division is customer focused because it is targeting people with chronic and other diseases. It is also customer focused because it produces products that are not produces by other companies
  • 15. and that will favor their customers. Differentiation of the New Product This new product can be differentiated in terms of its packaging, price, product innovation, market niches and lastly, offering best services. The company should innovate this new product by adding some features and functions to the product for example; the company can add the function of maintaining healthy conditions and also add natural nutrients to the new product and that will make the product different from other products produced by other companies and that will give the company competitive advantage to the market. Packaging of the new product is also another way of differentiating the product from other products. The company is known for its attractive bottles and also containers. Therefore, in this kind of product, the company should pack the product in attractive bottlers and tumblers that clearly indicate the functions, ingredients and the purpose of the juice. This is a very effective way of differentiating a product since it can either attract the customer or send away that customer. Another way of differentiating this new product is by creating a market niche in areas where there is no such kinds of products. This new division addresses customer’s needs in the following ways; it maintains their health, it is recommended for people with chronic diseases and other diseases and it does not affect or add problems to those who are sick. This will therefore give the product its competitive advantage and make customers buy that product instead of other related products. Vision and Competitive Advantage of the New Product As much as it is difficult to maintain a competitive advantage, the competitive advantage of this new product can be sustained. Competitive advantages of this product will become sustainable when the competitors efforts to render the same services cease. Generally, the coca cola company is an example of a company which has sustained its competitive advantage, extensive business model and innovation and therefore, it will not be difficult for the company to sustain its competitive advantage
  • 16. for this new product. As discussed above, the business model for this new division will entail the production, marketing and sales of the new product. The Coca Cola Company will not have many expenses on producing this new product since it will use refrigerating equipments and blenders of other drinks. The main vision of this new product is ensuring that people of the community and the vast world remain healthy and refreshed. Other visions are; ensure the satisfaction of patients needs and desires and lastly there is a vision of nurturing customers’ trust. These visions are aligned with the company’s general visions in the following ways; both the two have the visions of satisfying customer’s needs, nurturing customers trust and lastly, supporting communities. The new division aligns with the company’s mission and values in a number of ways. They both have the mission of making the world refreshed, inspiring happy moments in the world and also making a difference by creating values that favors their customers. In conclusion, the new product will fit into the Coca Cola Company since it aligns with the company’s mission statement, vision statements and also the values of the company. This product will greatly serve people of the community and the world and will also bring profits into the company. References Patricia W. (2014). The Coca Cola Company: Decades of Great Performance. • 17. Running head: MISSION AND VISION STATEMENTS 1 MISSION AND VISION STATEMENTS 4 Mission and Vision Statements Mission and Vision Statements There are many companies and organizations that I am willing to work for in future after I have completed studies. Among is Walmart company, which involves in the activities of retail. The organization is currently ranked first in the Fortune 500 companies of the world. Like many other successful organizations, this company has a mission and vision statement, through which its operations are guided. The mission statement of the organization to begin with states, “Saving people money so they can live better.” This mission statement is the means through which the organization intends to use to attain its vision. Its vision statement on the other hand states, “To be the best retailer in the hearts and minds of consumers and employees.” The vision statement of an organization is meant to explain the aim that the organization hopes to attain its
  • 18. operations. It, therefore, guides the strategies and other operations that the organization involves in. The mission statement of the organization on the other hand refers to the means the organization intends to use in (Ferguson, 2016). Both the mission and vision statements of the organization play a major role in the way business organizations operate. For the case of Walmart to begin with, its vision is to becoming the best retailing organization that both consumers and employees are aware or. This vision is the guiding statement through which its mission has been formulated. This is because the mission is intended to steer the organization towards attaining its vision. The mission concerns the organization being able to save the money of the people and thus improving their lives. Since it is through this mission that the organization can attain its vision statement, all the operational strategies and plans are based on the organization’s mission. Walmart organization, therefore, ventures on the activities that have the capability of reducing cost for the people and thus saving them money. When the organization can make people spend less for more valuables, it is highly likely to be considered the best organization in its field and thus by aligning the strategies and operation of the organization with the mission statement, it can attain its vision easily. As explained, Walmart is well known to be a significantly successful organization. Its financial stability has enabled the organization to be ranked first about the fortune 500 companies in the world. This implies that the organization is currently the company that has the highest revenues. All this success is brought about by the operations that the organization has been involving in. Its ability to have many customers that are loyal, who increase its sales implies that its actions and operations completely align with its vision and mission statements. Being either a manager or employee in the company, both the vision and mission statement of the organization would be the basis through which I make decisions. The mission of Walmart, for example, expresses that the organization aims at saving
  • 19. money for the people. During the formulation and approving of operational strategies, therefore, I would ensure that the strategies accepted and utilized by the organization are only the ones that are likely to save money for the people. Both the mission and vision of the organization, therefore, would guide me completely whether as an employee or a manager of the organization. In case the company did not have a mission or vision statement, it would have significant difficulties determining its purpose and goals. Since there are many strategies that companies can utilize to obtain benefits, it would be extremely difficult to determine the most appropriate strategies that align with the purpose and aim of the organization. It is for this reason that all organizations should aim to have mission and vision statements (Angelica, 2001). References Angelica, E. (2001).
