ENFJ Learning Style
How ENFJs acquire, memorize and recollect information
An ENFJ’s interest in a subject is driven by the answer to the question, “Is this helpful to people?” The more they see a topic to be beneficial to others, the greater their interest in the topic and the greater their desire to actively engage in it and apply what they learn. Their interest in studying the material is motivated by their desire to find solutions to people-related issues.
ENFJs easily and quickly pick up new material, especially when it is delivered on a conceptual basis. Concrete information is also well received by individuals of this type. ENFJs are capable of grasping material lacking strong logical connection. For example, learning the rules of the road is no more difficult for them than grasping some theory. As a rule, they develop a great depth and breadth of understanding of new material. Learned material is better retained when a significant portion of it is devoted to highlighting the topic’s connection and relevance to people.
ENFJs are capable of independently learning expansive and complex material. They are good at both retention of information on a logical basis and mechanical memorization, although the latter is less effective. ENFJs are able to precisely recall learned information, whether or not it is all conceptually related. ENFJs can benefit from studying both independently and in a group setting.
ENFJs are able to actively apply acquired knowledge and skills to their work. They can apply it to concrete tasks or creatively develop it in a given direction. Working with material they have learned, understood, and internalized brings them great enjoyment.
ENFJs are able to remain very stable when experiencing a high level of learning related stress. They prefer to evenly distribute their efforts in learning new material, although they are capable of learning through short periods of overexertion.
An ENFJ finds it easy to establish a common ground with people of a mindset similar to theirs - or, in other words, the representatives of intuitive/feeling types (NF), including ENFJ, INFJ, ENFP, and INFP personality types. ENFJs are usually open to active communication with people of this type. They have a similar way of perceiving the world, which is why an ENFJ finds it easy to share their feelings and views with other NFs, and is also likely to relate to other NFs’ feelings and views.
In their interaction with the representatives of intuitive/thinking types (NT), including ENTJ, INTJ, ENTP, and INTP personality types, INFJs should rely on conceptual and logical communication. ENFJs’ communication with people from this group often involves a variety of topics and is seen as beneficial by both parties. And while many ENFJs form their opinion based on their feelings, whereas the NT people try to maintain an objective view of events for the most part, they often find common ground for compelling discussion and sear.

How ENFJs acquire, memorize and recollect information
An ENFJ’s interest in a subject is driven by the answer to the
question, “Is this helpful to people?” The more they see a topic
to be beneficial to others, the greater their interest in the topic
and the greater their desire to actively engage in it and apply
what they learn. Their interest in studying the material is
motivated by their desire to find solutions to people-related
issues.
ENFJs easily and quickly pick up new material, especially when
it is delivered on a conceptual basis. Concrete information is
also well received by individuals of this type. ENFJs are
capable of grasping material lacking strong logical connection.
For example, learning the rules of the road is no more difficult
for them than grasping some theory. As a rule, they develop a
great depth and breadth of understanding of new material.
Learned material is better retained when a significant portion of
it is devoted to highlighting the topic’s connection and
relevance to people.
ENFJs are capable of independently learning expansive and
complex material. They are good at both retention of
information on a logical basis and mechanical memorization,
although the latter is less effective. ENFJs are able to precisely
recall learned information, whether or not it is all conceptually
related. ENFJs can benefit from studying both independently
and in a group setting.
ENFJs are able to actively apply acquired knowledge and skills
to their work. They can apply it to concrete tasks or creatively
develop it in a given direction. Working with material they have
learned, understood, and internalized brings them great
enjoyment.
ENFJs are able to remain very stable when experiencing a high
level of learning related stress. They prefer to evenly distribute
their efforts in learning new material, although they are capable
2. of learning through short periods of overexertion.
An ENFJ finds it easy to establish a common ground with
people of a mindset similar to theirs - or, in other words, the
representatives of intuitive/feeling types (NF), including ENFJ,
INFJ, ENFP, and INFP personality types. ENFJs are usually
open to active communication with people of this type. They
have a similar way of perceiving the world, which is why an
ENFJ finds it easy to share their feelings and views with other
NFs, and is also likely to relate to other NFs’ feelings and
views.
In their interaction with the representatives of intuitive/thinking
types (NT), including ENTJ, INTJ, ENTP, and INTP personality
types, INFJs should rely on conceptual and logical
communication. ENFJs’ communication with people from this
group often involves a variety of topics and is seen as beneficial
by both parties. And while many ENFJs form their opinion
based on their feelings, whereas the NT people try to maintain
an objective view of events for the most part, they often find
common ground for compelling discussion and search of
solutions.
In their communication with the representatives of
sensing/feeling types (SF), including ESFJ, ISFJ, ESFP, and
ISFP personality types, ENFJs should try to orient their manner
of communication toward feelings, facts, and actual sensations.
ENFJs can usually adapt to this manner of communication
easily enough, although they may find prolonged or frequent
contacts with the representatives of the SF group taxing.
ENFJs may find it challenging to communicate with the
representatives of sensing/thinking types (ST), including ESTJ,
ISTJ, ESTP, and ISTP. ENFJs should strive to confine their
communication with ST people to facts and their direct
implications. However, some of the manifestly feeling (F)
representatives of the ENFJ type find it taxing to maintain this
3. sort of communication. They have to struggle to find
argumentation that people from the ST group will understand,
and therefore they may often resort to keeping their
communication brief, or become annoyed that the other party
doesn’t “get it”. In order to establish a level of discussion that
both parties will find acceptable, an ENFJ has to tune into the
communicative style compatible with the ST group in advance.

ENFJ Communication Skills
ENFJs are gifted with prominent communicative abilities and
capable of persuading others to accept their way of thinking or
their endeavor, and earning other people's trust. ENFJs gladly
help others, but may become quite unhappy with those who
refuse to accept the kind of help that seems the most appropriate
to the ENFJ in question. They feel at ease while communicating
with many people at once. Many ENFJs are very energetic and
always ready to join a conversation. Often they are the ones
who initiate in-depth discussions, of various topics. In
communication ENFJs come across as confident, supportive,
possessing the gift of gab, individuals. Sometimes they may be
quite expressive about their feelings.
ENFJs find it easy enough to communicate with people of
different personality types on a variety of subjects, although
their interest in topics that are heavily analytical in nature may
5. be somewhat lower.
An ENFJ enjoys an extensive circle of friends, colleagues, and
contacts they make during such events as receptions, meetings,
public events, and recreational activities.
ENFJs tend to have a large number of business contacts, and
their communication routine can be rather intense. Their co-
workers or colleagues (or others who work in the same field)
are often reliant on, or interested in, their competent opinion of
counsel on professional subjects. An ENFJ is perfectly capable
of maintaining an eventful business communication agenda,
which usually involves an exchange of ideas and opinions, as
well as practical solutions.

ENFJs often find themselves in occupations that require good
interpersonal skills to establish productive collaboration as well
as to establish or maintain effective work processes. ENFJs are
one of the most “universal” personality types and they build
successful careers in a broad range of organizations and
occupations. There are many ENFJs found in mid- and high-
rank management roles. Sales, various social services,
counseling, teaching, healthcare, community care as well as
legal and paralegal services are just some of the examples of
6. favorable occupations for ENFJs.
Jung Career Indicator™ determines occupations and areas in
which people of your type find themselves most fulfilled and
content, are most successful, and in which they are likely most
represented. The following table lists some examples of areas of
occupation suitable from a personality type standpoint, along
with examples of educational institutions* where you can
receive a relevant degree or training. The table factors in the
expressiveness of the four traits of your personality type:

ENFJ
Extraverted iNtuitive Feeling Judging
ENFJs are the benevolent 'pedagogues' of humanity. They have
tremendous charisma by which many are drawn into their
nurturant tutelage and/or grand schemes. Many ENFJs have
8. tremendous power to manipulate others with their phenomenal
interpersonal skills and unique salesmanship. But it's usually
not meant as manipulation -- ENFJs generally believe in their
dreams, and see themselves as helpers and enablers, which they
usually are.
ENFJs are global learners. They see the big picture. The ENFJs
focus is expansive. Some can juggle an amazing number of
responsibilities or projects simultaneously. Many ENFJs have
tremendous entrepreneurial ability.
ENFJs are, by definition, Js, with whom we associate
organization and decisiveness. But they don't resemble the SJs
or even the NTJs in organization of the environment nor
occasional recalcitrance. ENFJs are organized in the arena of
interpersonal affairs. Their offices may or may not be cluttered,
but their conclusions (reached through feelings) about people
and motives are drawn much more quickly and are more
resilient than those of their NFP counterparts.
ENFJs know and appreciate people. Like most NFs, (and Feelers
in general), they are apt to neglect themselves and their own
needs for the needs of others. They have thinner psychological
boundaries than most, and are at risk for being hurt or even
abused by less sensitive people. ENFJs often take on more of
the burdens of others than they can bear.
Functional Analysis Of The ENFJ
Based on Jung’s framework of cognitive functionsExtraverted
Feeling
Extraverted Feeling rules the ENFJ's psyche. In the sway of this
rational function, these folks are predisposed to closure in
matters pertaining to people, and especially on behalf of their
beloved. As extraverts, their contacts are wide ranging. Face-to-
face relationships are intense, personable and warm, though
they may be so infrequently achieved that intimate friendships
are rare.Introverted iNtuition
Like their INFJ cousins, ENFJs are blessed through introverted
intuition with clarity of perception in the inner, unconscious
world. Dominant Feeling prefers to find the silver lining in even
9. the most beggarly perceptions of those in their expanding circle
of friends and, of course, in themselves. In less balanced
individuals, such mitigation of the unseemly eventually
undermines the ENFJ's integrity and frequently their good
name. In healthier individuals, deft use of this awareness of the
inner needs and desires of others enables this astute type to win
friends, influence people, and avoid compromising
entanglements.
The dynamic nature of their intuition moves ENFJs from one
project to another with the assurance that the next one will be
perfect, or much more nearly so than the last. ENFJs are
continually looking for newer and better solutions to benefit
their extensive family, staff, or organization.Extraverted
Sensing
Sensing is extraverted. ENFJs can manage details, particularly
those necessary to implement the prevailing vision. These data
have, however, a magical flexible quality. Something to be
bought can be had for a song; the same something is invaluable
when it's time to sell. (We are not certain, but we suspect that
such is the influence of the primary function.) This wavering of
sensory perception is made possible by the weaker and less
mature status with which the tertiary is endowed.Introverted
Thinking
Introverted Thinking is least apparent and most enigmatic in
this type. In fact, it often appears only when summoned by
Feeling. At times only in jest, but in earnest if need be,
Thinking entertains as logical only those conclusions which
support Feeling's values. Other scenarios can be shown invalid
or at best significantly inferior. Such "Thinking in the service
of Feeling" has the appearance of logic, but somehow it never
quite adds up.
Introverted Thinking is frequently the focus of the spiritual
quest of ENFJs. David's lengthiest psalm, 119, pays it homage.
"Law," "precept," "commandment," "statute:" these essences of
inner thinking are the mysteries of Deity for which this great
Feeler's soul searched.

Visual (V):
This preference includes the depiction of information in maps,
spider diagrams, charts, graphs, flow charts, labeled diagrams,
and all the symbolic arrows, circles, hierarchies and other
devices that instructors use to represent what could have been
presented in words. It could have been called Graphic (G) as
that better explains what it covers. It does NOT include movies,
videos or PowerPoint. It does include designs, whitespace,
patterns, shapes and the different formats that are used to
highlight and convey information.
Aural / Auditory (A):
This perceptual mode describes a preference for information
that is "heard or spoken." Students with this modality report
that they learn best from lectures, tutorials, tapes, group
discussion, email, using mobile phones, speaking, web chat and
talking things through. It includes talking out loud as well as
talking to yourself. Often people with this preference want to
sort things out by speaking, rather than sorting things out and
then speaking.
Read/write (R):
This preference is for information displayed as words. Not
surprisingly, many academics have a strong preference for this
11. modality. This preference emphasizes text-based input and
output - reading and writing in all its forms. People who prefer
this modality are often addicted to PowerPoint, the Internet,
lists, Filofaxes, dictionaries, thesauri, quotations and words,
words, words...
Kinesthetic (K):
By definition, this modality refers to the "perceptual preference
related to the use of experience and practice (simulated or
real)." Although such an experience may invoke other
modalities, the key is that people who prefer this mode are
connected to reality, "either through concrete personal
experiences, examples, practice or simulation" [See Fleming &
Mills, 1992, pp. 140-141]. It includes demonstrations,
simulations, videos and movies of "real" things, as well as case
studies, practice and applications.
What about Mixtures? Multimodals (MM):
Life is multimodal. There are seldom instances where one mode
is used, or is sufficient, so we have a four-part VARK profile.
That is why the VARK questionnaire gives you four scores.
Those who prefer many modes almost equally are of two types.
There are those who are context specific who choose a single
mode to suit the occasion or situation. There are others who are
not satisfied until they have had input (or output) in all of their
preferred modes. They take longer to gather information from
each mode and, as a result, they often have a deeper and broader
understanding.

Test 3: Hemispheric Dominance Inventory Test
12. Total score: 6.
Between 8-12: You use the left and right sides of your brain in a
balanced way.
The right brain is considered holistic while the left brain
analytical and linear. Left brained individuals prefer to learn
with specific details while right brained individuals prefer to be
presented with the big picture and then discover the details.
Right brained individuals would benefit from reading an outline
of the material that they are about to learn. It would be helpful
for them to make a quick review before the lecture, for example
by reading the introduction of the book and the chapters to be
covered.
Right brained individuals are more intuitive while left brained
individuals are more logical. Right brained individuals are more
skilled at sensing when an answer is right even when they
cannot prove why it is correct. They can make sense of
information that is not immediately apparent and therefore are
better at instinctively arriving at correct answers. Left brained
individuals should trust their intuition more when they are not
sure about an answer, for example in a multiple choice question
they should go with their first choice.
The left side of the brain is better at memorizing words and
formulas. Right brained individuals prefer concrete and real
objects that they can touch and see. They are more visual and
may benefit from visualization and mnemonic techniques that
would help them remember words and numbers.
Left brained individuals like to complete tasks in a specific
order while right brained individuals are more random and lack
organization. Right brained individuals would benefit from
keeping a schedule and focusing on time management. They
should concentrate on pressing issues and delay tasks that can
be completed later.
Some of the traits associated with the left side of the brain are
13. listed in the table. Not all of the traits will apply to you.
Remember, we use both side of our brain, but your left sides
gets the most exercise.
Type of Cognitive Processing
